Not following - I am sure you have a good point.

just like Terrance davis, fvv, dort had opportunities to be drafted in the 2nd round, but he bet on him self and wanted to be undrafted and pick the best situation for him self.

Read on Twitter

Well I agree and disagree then.
It may have limited his chance, but only a minority of teams are looking to draft and stash NCAA players. There was still many teams that passed on him, or could have still drafted him and had some leverage.

I have always agreed that it is better to go undrafted than go in the second round (if you are in that class of prospect). There are no real extra financial benefits of being drafted in the 2nd like the first. And furthermore, you can pick a situation that works best for you.

But in conclusion, I think as Raptors fan we have to be happy we got 1 of the 2.

Dort’s nice not sure why he wasn’t drafted either. Looks like he will have a nice little career.

My draft philosophy has always been to take the BPA over positional needs, especially if it's not a lottery pick. These guys take a little while to develop and a lot of things can change until then.

TD’s defence seems ok. Opinions?

What a great nickname that guy would have. Lug Nutz

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

Not a great shooter in college but could score on drives. His defense was already NBA level at 19 though. Hard to know what stories to believe about guys not wanting to be drafted in 2nd round or was he just passed over? Dort signed right after the draft and conveniently, SGA was just traded there. Did we even have a shot? I'd guess no.

There is an older version of him at the 3/4 that went through same program that played for Oregon this year. We really need to grab him after the draft.

Dort is a decent player but is only getting minutes because he's on a horrible OKC team. I don't think he sees court time on most teams in the league.

Dort started 28 games in 19/20 on a playoff team. His defense is legit. That was when his shot was bad. Its obviously improved in leaps and bounds. Turns 22 soon. His problem is he's really at the same position as SGA.

His shot is still bad and his advanced metrics are terrible. He's young though. I think he can be a decent player. Just not there yet.

Happens pretty much every time an NBA player appears out of nowhere. RGM poster claims to be shouting at the TV for Raps to draft some guy that’s under the radar because he is guaranteed to be great. Of course the poster yelled at his TV but didn’t post his bold prediction at the time.

Heard the same story about Paul Milsap, Gilbert Arenas and Draymond Green. Now it’s Dort’s turn.

I wanted the Raptors to draft him the second round then was begging for them to pick him up as an undrafted signee.

Because some guys don’t want to be drafted in the bottom half of the second round because they can make more by signing as a FA. Maybe he already had a deal with OKC to sign and wouldn’t sign with anyone that drafted him. It happens a fair bit. And the thunder was his favourite team growing up and he signed immediately... makes you wonder.

You must be out of your mind bro! Dude is the best second year defensive player I've literally ever watched. I can't even imagine his defensive potential once he picks up a few more tricks at the NBA level.

This aversion to bumping old threads is unique to realgm and wrong. It's better to see how thoughts and consensus has changed. It also holds those accountable for making definitive statements about players when threads can be bumped down the road. Id much rather read an old thread than another new one about tanking or not tanking
