Would you guys possibly move Lowry (assuming you pay FVV around 15-20M) so you have enough cap space in 2021 to sign a max guy like Giannis and retool a bit?/

If so, who are some cheap guys and expirings you are looking at to trade him for

No, Lowry is a free agent that year so need to move him.

As of now there's no dead money for the 2021 free agency. and the space for one max player w Fred or 2 maxes w/o him

Doesn't seem like you guys can afford Siakam, FVV, Powell, OG cap hold, other pieces possibly, Max FA, and Lowry.

Unless Lowry takes a nice discount and don't have Gasol or Ibaka

I would speculate the deal is MU will continue give KL 30/1 as long as he performs at a high level. 49ers fans are still pining for the days when they had Joe Montana and Steve Young.

Theres a lot of uncertainty at this point but i think we will choose one of Fred or Powell, possibly lose both Gasol and Ibaka as well. The ages are pretty important because that year Marc will be around 37 years old so he may retire even if he does come back for the next season. It will also be Lowrys age 35 season so I don’t think he will cost too much money if he decides to stay.

Anunoby’s cap hold is miniscule as is Terence Davis’ so both we should be able to keep in RFA maybe requiring dipping into the tax.

Is Malcolm Brogdon the cautionary tale for Fred VanVleet? 4 years $85 million should be tops.

This is how I felt before COVID-19. I'm thinking he shouldn't get more than 4/60 at this point. Or offer him a 1 year max with a wink that he'll take less the following year.

Love Norm, but unless we can get him on a cap friendly extension, he is probably better off as a trade asset. Terence Davis is more than ready to step in anyways in a year or so.

I think Dennis Smith Jr could be an interesting target.

I don't know what it would take to get him. We have a couple guys that could match his salary (Mccaw or Stanley) and then maybe a couple 2nd rounders?

Extremely athletic scoring guard to develop behind Lowry/FVV/Powell/TDII

Get him out of the dumpster fire in NY and into one of the best organizations in the world.

TD > DSJr We need a target like that but a PF/C.

brogdan was a rfa, and the pacers had to give up a 1st and 2 seconds as well.

I absolutely agree that TDII is better than DSJR. Nowhere did I say anything about having one over the other.

I was just making a point that DSJR could be had for a very cheap, and would be a really interesting 5th guard/scoring guard behind Lowry / FVV / TDII / Powell.

I think this would be a great environment to develop DS JR.

He's a 5 and not bouncy like Siakam but he was pretty comfortable facing up and blowing past slower Big 10 centers this year and went from 0 to 19 made 3s (on 36.5 percent) and 61 to 70% FT shooting so he seems like a promising option to be a decent all-around 5.

I dunno if that's worth picking though, considering how many solid centers who can play 15-20 minutes are available in free agency and the dearth of good players literally everywhere else. Like Poeltl wasn't a bad pick, but the way the league is going you'd rather have a wing who's also a 7th or 8th man quality type like Taurean Waller-Prince (who went a few picks after him) since one costs 5-6M a year to replace in free agency and one closer to 10-12M.
Where's the D?

What about Matt Thomas? At least he has 1 elite NBA skill. DSJr doesn't except for dunking.

Any unhappy stars out there?

Gobert and Mitchell seemed to have made up. Beal?

What about non-stars?

Snell and cash for McCaw, Stanley and 2020 2nd pick? Even if Snell opts out of his player option, I think it's still a win. :D

McCaw and cash for Khem Birch?

This news about Oladipo has got me thinking we should be seriously looking at making a buy low move for him. Not sure what that cap is looking like with everything going on now, but we should have room to eat some salary this summer if it doesnt drop significantly. I'd offer Norm and a few firsts for him if the relationship between him and the Pacers or irreparable. Seems pretty far off value-wise in an ideal world, but I'm not sure how many teams would be willing to give significant assets for him on a 1 year deal coming off a pretty bad injury. Similar situation to Kawhi and if hes healthy hes a perfect fit for our team.

Kings are hilarious declining his rookie contract team option 4th year. I guess they want enough money for Bogdanovic.

I'd sign him to a 2 year deal for say $3 million per year. Oh wait Giannis. 1 year deal for $4 million with a team option 2nd.
