Kings are hilarious declining his rookie contract team option 4th year. I guess they want enough money for Bogdanovic.

I'd sign him to a 2 year deal for say $3 million per year. Oh wait Giannis. 1 year deal for $4 million with a team option 2nd.

1yr probably wouldn't work since we'd just end up developing him for someone else.

2-3 years is probably ideal

It was a nice run with Biyombo.

I guess C's are similar to RB in the NFL. No one wants to commit to them long-term unless they are elite.

I like going down 3 routes for the off season. Assuming Giannis does not extend and all free agents are in play for 2020 we go with the bare-bones option 1st:

Option 1 - Resign no body
This off season bring back Marc and Serge on 1 year large deals if they bite and extend FVV to long term deal starting at around 17mil or so with player option after 3 years. Something like a 4 year 80 mill like Brogdon.

Next offseason you have the following salary assuminh Norm does not pick up his option:

Siakam 31.3 mil
FVV 19.3 mil
Matt Thomas 1.7 mil
Hernandez 1.7 mil
Boucher 1 mil (assuming he is extended for min)
2020 1st rounder 2 mil
2021 1st rounder 2 mil
2020 second rounder 1 mill

Restricted Free agents
OG - 8 Mill cap hold
TD - 2 Mill Cap hold

Total Salary hold = $70 mill

Approximate Salary cap assuming reduction - $120 mill

Total Cap space = 50 Mill
Enough cap space for 1 max and possibly resigning Kyle and Gasol to smaller salaries.

Option 2

Use the cap space to get some valuable players back. If Durant really wants to go after Ibaka i would do Ibaka + Stanley for Levert.
I would then use capspace to go after Poetl as a possible Gasol replacement and then sign Gasol to a large 1 year deal to help mentor Poetl. The offer has to be higher then MLE to make sure the Spurs don't match.

Poetl has similar passing and defensive instincts but needs to work on 3 pt shooting. A year under Gasol should really help him out. I don't think he can reach that level but can possibly have a similar impact.

Next Off Season we go with this:

Siakam 31.3 mil
FVV 19.3 mil
Levert 17.5 mil
Poetl 12.5 mil
Matt Thomas 1.7 mil
Hernandez 1.7 mil
Boucher 1 mil (assuming he is extended for min)
2020 1st rounder 2 mil
2021 1st rounder 2 mil
2020 second rounder 1 mill

Restricted Free agents
OG - 8 Mill cap hold
TD - 2 Mill Cap hold

Total Salary hold = $100 mill

Approximate Salary cap assuming reduction - $120 mill

Total Cap space = 20 Mill
Enough cap space for 1 max or possibly resigning Kyle and Gasol to smaller salaries.

ya he got a big contract so good for Biyombo.

Harry Giles 3 year MLE contract is something the Raptors could offer. or 1 year prove-yourself deal.

If we draft a small (SF) at #28, do you think Chicago would trade Cristiano Felicio for Patrick McCaw, Stanley Johnson (to be waived) and cash?

PG Lowry - FVV - TD
SG FVV - Powell - TD - Thomas
SF OG - Powell - #28
PF Siakam - OG - Boucher - #58
C Gasol/Ibaka - Felicio - Hernandez?

that 3 time defending champion Patrick McCaw.
lottery pick Stanley Johnson
AND CASH

seems like a steal for Felicio.

jk. thats a pretty bad trade all in all. garbage for garbage i guess. Felicio making 8M i can't believe it.

If McCaw is 4-time defending consecutive champion then he's off limits until the streak ends.

Consolidating assets for an insurance backup/3rd C that is beefy is a win. Maybe the Bulls buyout or waive Stanley? They could use McCaw if they let Denzel Valentine walk.

Anyone wonder how much Tristan Thompson's next contract will be? I think he may be a good replacement for one of Gasol or Ibaka if they end up leaving. I highly doubt TT is going to get another big contract (he has Lebron to thank for his current one).

MLE for 4 years might be the best he can get unless he goes to a crappy team.

Detroit should offer him $15 million per year for 4.
Maybe the Knicks trade Bobby Portis and his team option for TT sign and trade $15 milllion / 4.
Charlotte should offer him closer to $20 million because they are a small market.

PG Graham - Rozier
SG Rozier - Monk
SF Bridges - Bacon
PF Washington - Batum
C Thompson - Zeller

Add in a top 10 pick and not too shabby anymore, with only Batum's horrid contract left.

More likely he signs with the Clippers (let Harrell walk as he'll get more than the MLE) for the MLE / 4.

PG Beverley - Lou - Mann
SG George - Shamet - McGruder
SF Leonard - George
PF Thompson - Kabengele
C Zubac - Thompson

Yeah, I would not want to pay TT big bucks either. If we lose Ibaka and/or Gasol though, we would definitely need a vet C to replace them, and I think TT would fit the bill. Maybe he is okay with taking a nice big 1 year deal and get to play at least 1 season at home?

Was looking at all the statistics for a small forward, and I'm sold on TJ Warren.

The guy is signed for the next two years at a extremely reasonable 10 mil. It's gonna cost to get him though, but I'd offer OG / Powell / Picks to Indy for him.

A trade with Powell / OG / and a sign and trade of Gasol OR Ibaka for TJ Warren and Myles Turner works.

IF Masai can pull this off he's cemented himself as the best GM of the league. We go into next season with;

Myles Turner / Ibaka or Gasol
Siakam / RHJ
TJ Warren /
Lowry / Thomas
FVV / Davis

This team legit needs 1 Superstar *cough Giannis* and we're a perennial contender.

A lineup of 2021 could be;

Turner / Backup center
Giannis RHJ
Siakam / Thomas
Warren / Davis
FVV / Lowry

Shooting would be a bit of an issue with that team but I would definitely see if there's a way we could acquire Turner. I still think he has quite a bit of untapped potential and a change of scenery could do him good.

Would also like to add some other depth pieces like Harry Giles, who I've mentioned quite a bit a few months earlier and Frank Jackson. Jackson could be a very valuable signing as a third PG that could develop into a solid backup after Lowry is done.

Obviously bringing in Giannis would be the primary focus as well.

What about bringing back Biyombo? He's not worth more than the MLE so maybe half the MLE would be enough if the cap is going down. 1 year $5 million with a team option 2nd?

he's too one dimensional for this team. even Rondae has his passing on offense. Boucher is a 3 and D big. Gasol and Ibaka play both sides of the floor. i mean if he's the 10th or 11th man on the team, sure. but i'm sure those spots are reserved for projects down in the d-league.

i'm sure there are better options out there.

MLE is way too much for Biz. Hes a third string guy on a good team. Wouldn’t do more than the minimum for him

Yeah I doubt Biz is going to see much after his contract ends this season. Biz really has the Raptors to thank for making him such a rich man. He can still be useful as a bench energy big; give him a $2-3 million contract.

I still think one of Ibaka or Gasol will be gone this offseason, but fortunately there are lots of bigs in this year's free agency crop to replace them if they leave.

Can we do a double sign and trade or get a guy with a one year contract for a rotation guy if some team without cap space wants Ibaka as their 5 while they go for the title?

If the goal is to compete again while saving cap room for 2021, it makes sense to bring back Gasol for one year, Freddy longterm and Boucher (presuming no big offer) but turn Ibaka into something (or even a pick and salary we can trade at deadline).

Gasol/Boucher
Siakam/______
OG/______
Powell/Davis
Lowry/VanVleet

Milsapp signing for 15M for a year then traded to us and Ibaka goes to Denver for 35/2 or 45/3 might be everyone's best case scenario. Nuggets get a championship veteran to replace Milsapp and Plumlee and he can play behind or with Jokic (against the big Lakers) since he can shoot. Ibaka gets a good chunk over the MLE other teams can offer to play for a contender.

Or something like Ibaka for Olynyk when he picks up his option? We get a Canadian stretch big for a year and they get a shooting big to start instead of Leonard at times and back up Adebayo. Maybe a 2nd rounder moves one way or another.

They are discussing moving Free Agency before the draft.

Whoa, you would just have to sign who you can. Maybe more trades as they don't need to duplicate positions.
