There are too many political and media forces that would benefit from no sports this year and increased racial division, and people living in unhappiness and fear. Sports would unite people. I predict 2nd wave panic gets turned up to 11 leading to no season. The numbers don't support it at all (High cases, low deaths is good, it means corona is becoming more like the flu, and possibly should've been treated more like that for weeks now) but all you need is a groupthink full court press and the outrage mob cancelling anyone who disagrees and you can at least shut down the blue states and the sports going along with the liberal viewpoints like the NBA.

Not sure where to put this, or if it deserves its own thread. Vancouver officially dropped out of the running to be a host for the NHL resuming its season.
The main sticking point is this....
Ontario is already allowing migrant farm workers who tested positive, to continue working while asymptomatic. BC showing why they're doing amazingly well against the virus. meanwhile Ontario....... lol

Ontario is doing just fine 99.9% don't have covid 2,036 active cases 14.5M pop.

He literally said that by doing more tests and finding more cases...
it doesn't look good. What in the actual ****? What kind of twisted reality do we live in that the leader of a country can say something like this and NOT be raked over the coals for being callus and uncaring. Just because you don't test...doesn't mean the disease disappears. What kind of **** up logic is that and how can people honestly say that Biden isn't much better than Trump based on this kind of statement alone. ICUs are at capacity in some states, positive cases are on the rise like never in the last 3 months...and this douche bag wants to pretend that it doesn't exist? How is he getting away with this?
...and add to that...Trump's cutting federal funding to community testing sites...during a huge spike in covid cases in many states...like how can this be justified?
Anyways...I don't want to politicize covid any further...

In the last three days alone, the US has added more covid cases than the entire country of canada has since the start of the pandemic. Just some perspective on the management of it all.

He flat out lying about the testing of other countries. Right to everyone’s face and then just a stupid effing decision. How is he doing it? People refuse to face their own decisions and would rather be lied to, and actively choose to beleive garbage. That’s the only possible reason 40% of people continue to believe him.

493,094 deaths
7.7 billion population
Total covid-19 cases = 0.1268% of the population has been an active case vs. 99.87% of the population that have not (null result)
Active covid-19 cases = 0.06% of the population is an active case right now vs. 99.94% of the population whom aren't (null result)
covid-19 deaths = 0.0064% of the population has died with covid-19 vs 99.99% of the population have survived (null result)
Are the lockdown measures and social distancing guidelines really still necessary given this context? Where they ever?

111 new cases in Ontario today. GTA went into next stage of reopening on Wednesday. We'll know the impact probably in another week. Deaths are pretty low now.

Why would you use national US numbers to draw conclusions about opening vs not opening when there are wildly different regulations between states? Take Texas, for example:

Their 7 day average is back up at around 12% again, which is near the high the reached back in mid April. Their numbers are different from NY, who had very different numbers from everyone else a few months ago, etc.. Hospitalizations are also going up along with cases. Texas is now going to have to start closing things down again. Should Texas be looking at their numbers conflated with everyone else's to say everything's fine, when it clearly isn't?

Guy...What the **** are you talking about. Th US has had more new cases this week each day than ever before including the start. It's looking hella worse. Maybe stop looking at social media for your news.

They added 40,000 new infections yesterday. For comparison, we added 400. That's an order of magnitude lower, or factually worded another way, exponentially better.
And you can see the number of tests/population to know he's full of crap, if math isn't your thing.

A lot of places are hiding Covid deaths by classifying them as pneumonia deaths (Russia has been notorious for this), or blaming the deaths on underlying conditions instead of Covid (even though the patient wouldn't have died from those conditions if they didn't catch Covid). I suspect this will become more common everywhere as we begin to restart the economy. Reporting honest mortality numbers would only create another panic and lead to a second shutdown.
