Masai does make mistakes.

Jokic is one of the most "came out of nowhere" players ever. I didn't even hear his name until the first time the Raptors played the Nuggets in his rookie year and he abused JV. Kind of weird to get on Masai about it.

You can find a "team picks X instead of Y" for literally every single team in the past 10 years.. Even the Warriors or Spurs. Doesn't really say anything about a GM's drafting ability unless they're consistently bad

Have you seen Jokic? He doesn't even appear now to be a NBA caliber athlete. Everyone missed on the guy.

The Denver Nuggets didn't even use their own higher picks to get Jokic.....

Denver passed on him.

Those of us that obsess over the draft board all year were jonesing for Damien Inglis That was the year Sam Presti drafted Josh Huestis specifically because he agreed to not sign his guaranteed first round contract.

I actually remember watching some video of Jokic because his advanced numbers were eye popping.

Show me one GM with a perfect draft record. Keep in mind that Denver drafted Donovan Mitchel and traded him for Trey Liles.

Literally every team skipped him, including the Nuggets with their higher picks (they picked 2 guys ahead of Jokic). He was some random fat euro no one expected to amount to anything.

You’re acting like he was projected to go around that range. It’s like blaming the Pistons for not drafting FVV in the 1st or early 2nd.

You can make a case for the Daniels pick maybe but definitely not the Bruno pick.

To be fair, the Nuggets promised him they'd take him in the 2nd round and that's the only reason he chose to stay in the draft. They were literally the only team interested in him, and so there was no need to take him with a higher pick (both very good choices in Nurkic and Harris).

This all true, but if they knew he'd be this good they wouldnt risk some other team grabbing him the 2nd round.
