OT: Dipo wants out of Indiana

Post#1 » by Kreamy » Mon Sep 28, 2020 6:20 pm

Speculation on a trade with Celtics for Hayward and picks.

Bleacher Report
Victor Oladipo has one year remaining on his contract with the Indiana Pacers, but he is reportedly "looking to move on" this offseason, according to Jared Weiss of The Athletic.

Weiss speculated the guard could be part of a trade with the Boston Celtics, sending Gordon Hayward near his home in Indiana in a package that also includes draft picks.

Given how Oladipo has looked after his injury, I would assume the picks would be outgoing with him to Boston in that deal.

Right. Because Hayward has looked amazing coming back from his injury(s)?

Strange that he wants out.

Dude was flourishing with Indiana in his 1st season and became an all-star.

Last two seasons he's barely played due to injuries.

With a healthy Dipo, the combination of Dipo, Brogdon, Sabonis, Turner and Warren could become legitimate contenders. That's a scary line up that just can't stay healthy.

People aren't mentioning that Sabonis, who was their best player, did not play in the bubble. If they had a full roster with Dipo full healthy that team could have made it a close series with the Heat.

Boston trades: Hayward, Edwards, Yabusele and cash
Indiana trades: Oladipo, McConnel and Leaf

Balance it with 2nd picks.

Not sure why the Celtics would use Hayward to get another perimeter player who needs the ball in his hands. They need a high level big who can be a presence in the paint without getting into
the constant foul trouble Theis always seems to be in.

I'd take a gamble on our training staff if I were Masai and try to put something together around Norm.

Even healthy I'm not sold on Dipo. DeRozan always had his number which was a flag to me. But I'm sure management has given thought to him as a fallback for 2021.

I would do Powell, a future first, this year's second and even TD for Dipo if the Celtics are fielding competitive offers. Dipo would be what a second, third option are best with the Celtics. With us he'd be our 1A, 1B. It's like a poor man's version of the Kawhi trade

Why not take a crack at him? you need a guy who can the clutch shots and provide scoring relief for Siakam.

If he can get back to what he was 2 years ago that would put us in contention if we can retain FVV and Ibaka. Other wise its only a 1 year rental and we don't need to resign him.

It looked pretty obviously like a botched injury diagnosis by the team that resulted in a catastrophic injury down the road. well, that's how it appeared from the outside. He's never said anything or whispered anything so perhaps it's not why he wants out.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I have a feeling Vic just doesn't want to play in Indiana anymore. I like Vic, but I have a feeling he is angling to play in Miami come 2021. Very possible we may have another Kawhi like situation on our hands if we go grab Vic, only Vic is nowhere as good as Kawhi. HOWEVER, if there is a team that can help rehab Vic, its our Raptor's doctor.

If we could grab Myles Turner. 24, 17.5 over the next 3, 2.1 blocks a game, shoots the 3.

He hasn't looked good since that season he injured the same knee 2-3 times.

The Pacers are right to be cautious - even though its their own fault for rushing him back from his knee injury.

Unless he's cheap, avoid him. The real target on that team is Turner for us.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I don't love his motor. I think he plays small. He isn't a great rebounder and disappears in games. He blocks shots but isn't an intimidating presence like Gobert.
