Wolves and Warriors looking to move top picks

Post#1 » by RoyceDa59 » Thu Oct 1, 2020 7:41 pm

Should we make a move for one of the top picks in the draft? And if so, what’s the move?

yeah cause the top of this draft is weak, the drop from top 3, to late lotto isnt much talent wise.

plus GSW are on a different timeline, and the MIN GM is the type of GM who will make one sided trade offers to every team hoping someone bites, so expect MIN to be in the news a lot. (plus they are also on accelerated timeline slightly)

When Minnesota and Golden State wants to move down from the #1 and #2 spot, that says alot about the talent in this year's draft.

I’m not willing to trade anything of substantial value for any pick this draft.

So this is not a raptors deal, maybe knicks move up for Lamelo or something

Lamelo sucks. You can get RJ Hampton in the 20's and he's as good of a prospect as Ball is. Theyre both projects

If Edwards is the consensus #1, i don't see how he fits with the Wolves. I see Russell as more of a good passing 2 than a 1 so they should look to get a good new age defensive PG, someone like Halliburton.

Trade #1 to NY for #8/#27/future 1st lottery protected and i think that works for both teams. IF NY goes all in on Fred, they've got a team with more potential than they've had in years:

Fred/Edwards/Barrett/Knox/Robinson

Golden state should absolutely trade and get a win now player.

Masai doesn't need a top pick. We'll draft a better player than the Wolves in the second round.

If it can be had for pennies on the dollar I'd definitely be interested in acquiring the pick.

There are many scenarios that can force us to make a trade too. For example, if Ibaka decides he wants to start for the Golden State Warriors, the Raptors could facilitate that through a sign-and-trade for the pick + Wiggins or something. If Ibaka is going to leave, we could capitalize on the departure to ensure we get something back. It won't equal the loss of rim protection and floor spacing Ibaka brings, but we stay relevant with assets.

I think Anthony Edwards is a fine player in terms of the top 3. Wiseman could be good, could not be very good at all. Same could be said for LaMelo. The lottery has a lot of high ceiling but also high floor prospects so it's a gambler's draft class.
PM me if interested in writing about the Toronto Raptors!

i dont disagree, but masai went out to scout him. he could particularly like him for whatever reason and if he does you move up to get him.

Problem with a top pick in a weak draft is that their contract won't be cheap. Could range from $5-7M. That's a decent mid-level contract. Draft picks can be pure gold because they have so much potential. But there is a risk if the potential ends up becoming fool's gold.

And most teams want to get a star type of player back for a top lottery pick.

Let the bad teams waste their pick on someone mediocre. Grab a pick from the 10-15 range and try to get a stud from there. Much cheaper in the short term, and less risk in the long term (ie, the trade value to get that pick won't be as bad).

Anthony Edwards is worth it.

I'd push hard for Draymond Green + the first overall for Siakam + picks.

That's a really really good trade for us and the Warriors as well in my opinion.

I would do this in a combination with another couple of trades. Especially if Giannis 2021 is looking legit.

Lowry / TD
Anthony Edwards
OG
Draymond
Ibaka

With whatever comes back for Lowry / FVV our way.

Someone is gong to take an Anthony Bennett. Whoever gets picked first has way too much pressure on them already. and they will cost a fortune compared to lower in the draft.

This draft seems to be 1-30 the most similar levels of talent ever.

No way we trade for a high pick. Completely useless move it's not our timetable to develop a new core right now.

Let some other team gamble. If I were a developing team I would be doing my best not to help Golden State.

Also, these trades including Pascal are dumb. Stop with the recency bias.
I believe in Masai.
