Was hoping for a 18-20 per type deal but this is okay.

Earlier this month, I stated that 4 year 80-85 million should be the high end the Raps should offer FVV. Anything more than that, you had to let him walk. This is fair for both sides. Essentially a three year deal. Glad to have him back at this price, and not the 25-29 million range it was rumoured.

Nah this is a bad contract you don't sign contracts like this hoping you can trade it later. 21 million for this overrated chucker is a joke. Same people in here saying its a fair deal will be crying by mid season. But leave it to raptors fans to overrate the hell out of mediocre players

Good deal, slight overpay at the most.

The 4th year option is a win-win for both sides. We keep him as he's about to enter his prime (he's 27 in Feb). If Freddie plays for a max deal, that only helps us as a team in that 3rd year. His contract is also movable if Masai wants to go that route.

I'm not convinced Fred has any more improvements he can make to his game, and there are limitations with him that cannot be overcome. But that aside, I'm definitely happy for him.

As others have said, a floater would be a huge thing for FVV. That would be a massive addition that would give him more options when he puts the ball on the floor than getting stuffed at the rim or dribbling around until he finds an open teammate.

Oh shut up... Fred will provide surplus value over this contract with his defense and shooting alone, even if he doesn't improve his finishing or pick and roll passing

why are people so worried about him taking his game to another level when he showed he can do that in the NBA finals. There’s a reason so many fans wanted the guy on their team. We need to be asking this about pascal in the playoffs. He’s sitting a far bigger contract than Fred and hasn’t really proven himself in the playoffs yet.

Fred and ibaka were 2 of the biggest factors aside from kawhi, Lowry and Gasol defense in that NBA finals. Those 2 guys are under appreciated by a section of this fan base.

Pascal wasn't bad in the Finals at least. He averaged 20/7/4 as a third option on 50% shooting while playing great defence.

Not happy with the deal, but I'm OK with it. Good for Fred for taking care of his family.

You should very happy at the worst that we have an asset we can trade for something. Letting him walk for nothing actually hurts our team in the long term...

Now THAT...is the real question

EDIT: probably Ibaka - fully expect a similar tweet about Ibaka in a couple hours.

Return to Toronto Raptors
