Re: Free Yuta
Yuta is going to turn into a budget-friendly Gallinari for us with his similar size and skill sets. Bonus that Nurse and co. are going to hammer defensive awareness into him too. It'll also be so on-brand for a new international break out player to be fostered by this franchise.

Unless there's a trade reason to keep Stanley's contract this season, he should be waived. That roster spot is worth something.
Indeed, we need bigger and longer shooters, so that we can play them at SF/PF without being too undersized, particularly that helps our rebounding.
Meanwhile, Brissett isn't that small, he has good wingspan. However, Watanabe with a better handle (and shooting, I suppose) should get some playing time.

"He was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's defensive player of the year in 2018"

That's a good sign

I'll bump this thread. Yuta's not the next Kevin Durant but he plays defense, makes the right passes and hits the occasional three. That's what the Raptors desperately need right now in their back-up unit.

He should always play over Stanley Johnson.

I fully expect and will be disappointed if he is not playing those McCaw/Bembry, Stanley minutes. The thing is out of those guys he got the best all-around game and an actual shot at making a shot or two. I'm hopeful. If he fails, it's Paul Watson to the rescue, but I like yuta's energy more and think he has the mentality to fit this role.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Yuta plays like Siakam when Siakam was a role player. he's all over the floor, works hard, looking to be an opportunistic scorer when he's asked to go after offensive rebounds or catch and shoot 3s.
i'm not saying he play like 30 minutes but 10 minutes seem to be fair to start.

same with Watson, i want 10 minutes from him backing up OG at the 3. Yuta at the 4. play alongside either Lowry or FVV. Boucher probably at the 5 - i mean depending match ups of course. but most teams don't have a bruising backup big.

Even more importantly so does our coach. Asking Nurse not to play one is a kind of cruelty he doesn't deserve.

I'm still on the Matt Thomas train and honestly a little baffled he isn't getting PT. But interested in hearing your take.

Nurse doesn't seem to throw multiple pieces of **** at the wall at a time unless he truly given up. Lowry, (Davis/Thomas), OG, Yuta, Boucher might be interesting to see though.

And my issue with that (as much as I didn't like Casey's predictability) is that no one has any idea when they're going to play and with whom.
So of course we're not seeing results...

I mean without getting too in depth (because I should do work instead of grind nba stats hah), I would too.
But to Nurses point, hes not been good on D.

But this gets me. Not every player has to be good on D. That's why you assemble a mostly good defensive roster. Some guys need to be able to actually put the ball in the bucket.
From my eye test this year, Matt hasn't actually been THAT bad on D either.
