Ugh. Looked like an ACL injury. Hopefully only an hyperextension/sprain.

Looked brutal. He was in a ton of pain. Doesn't look good. His season is in serious jeopardy.

Not sure where you saw this, but that's good news. It looked much worse. I hope this is true.
MCL tears and meniscus injuries both have a 6-8 week timeline. An ACL tear is 6-8 months.
In terms of this forum, this would be good news. It's likely he won't play in the playoffs because Denver won't go far without him. And he is likely to be available if we make the Olympics. We were not expecting him to be available for the OQT, so nothing changes there.

It's a torn ACL. Poor guy. He may miss part of next season. Brutal blow to the Nuggets and Team Canada's Olympic hopes.
We really have to hope that OKC is sitting Shai 'out of an abundance of caution'. Which I think is a possibility, they just want a higher draft pick. We can't afford to not have both of these guys this summer.

42 PTS (career-high)
16/31 FG
7/11 3PT
7 REB
4 STL
All from one of the best young defensive players in the league.

I see Dillon Brooks sneaking in there too.

Down to 16 Canadians in the NBA (excluding 10-days). I believe we peaked at 23 last season. France is tight our heels with 11!

Sounds to me like an extension with the Rockets may be close or that some sort of insurance has been discussed. It seems like he really wants to be an Olympian . His father was a former long time Junior National Team coach and as a player his dad Ken was close to making several of Jack Donahue's teams. Kelly has certainly been brought up to respect and be interested in the program. One obvious difference that may help Olynyk in playing over Birch is that he's made $58 million in his career to date and his 1 year fall back Fiba insurance , based on his last year of his current contract is considerably higher.
Hair Canada wrote:I very much doubt Shai plays anymore this season. OKC really has no reason to let him play. They are well in contention for anywhere between a bottom 5 and a bottom 3 record, which would give them a 50%-70% chance of getting a top-5 pick in a year where there's a big gap between top-5 and the 6th draft pick. If they finish with the 6th worst record or better (worse if you think about it from their point of view), their chances to get a top-5 pick begin to drop rapidly to around 20% with the 8th worse record.
Now, they won about 50% of the games where Shai played this season. But since he's been sitting out, their record is 1-13. So even if he's feeling well, it's really in their best interest to sit him. You can always claim that you just want to make sure he's fully recovered.
Hard to say what this all means for playing this summer. You can imagine that they don't want him to play in any case. He's their future pillar. So this might be the excuse everyone uses for why he's staying out. But I think he's in a position to push for it if he really wants to. They want to make him happy...
