gotta say, he aint wrong.

you can meet "women" from all over the world in toronto, which is great!

and if you leave the fishbowl for any extended period of time, you'll quickly realize how off torontonians can be haha -- sorry, but extended vacays are real eye openers

... i dunno if its a lack of community, too much commercialism, capitalism on overdrive, narcissism, lack of socializing or what, but leave the city for a decent period of time consistently and it will force you to self reflect and examine the environment

I'm not sure what you're trying to say? None of what you listed equals "people in Toronto are (Please Use More Appropriate Word)". I've lived abroad and I've met people from all over the world, and I would have to say that Torontonians are some of the most cultured and intelligent people out there. We are definitely not friendly though, we are polite for the most part.

cultured and intelligent for sure -- but polite can also be a a "polite" way of saying "fake"

I've actually spoken with quite a few ex pats, specifically in L.A -- they always say the same thing "sure southern california is pretentious, but its a self aware pretentious". the message being, torontonians are completely unaware of how self involved and full of it they are.

not trying to be a hater, but the vibe in toronto is just weird in a lot of ways  -- i really only notice it when i leave, but the burlington to scarborough up to king county bubble is just its own weird odd thing

I think it's because we're new to it. LA's been pretentious for almost 100 years. I would say that in Toronto it's gotten to be that way over the last 20 years, and especially in the last 10 years. A lot of money has poured into the city, a lot of nice condos being built, one of the best night lifes in North America, and Drake, it's got a lot of us feeling like our ish don't stink. And I agree, with the polite/fake narrative, people in the US seem to be more genuine in how they deal with you.

"It's Dark and Hell Is Hot", "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood", "... And Then There Was X"

There are very few rappers who made 3 consecutive albums of that quality, wish him a speedy recovery and hope he gets the help that he needs.

From what I understand he was given a hard time in Toronto when he was filming a movie. He was robbed or something.

A very high proportion of women here absolutely think they're something special and their **** doesn't stink. I definite agree on the materialism aspect.

That makes sense. He was probably wearing jewelry at an exchange or showing out, you're begging for it that way. Probably thought Torontonians were soft and got caught off guard. Unfortunate.

About Toronto we're good... I would rather be Toronto than almost all other American cities.

rocky_da_best wrote:Nowadays rappers all sound the same. Darkman X carved out his own lane and sounded like no one else in the 90s/early 2000s. He did his own thing and didn't give af. Won't proclaim to be his biggest fan but I loved a lot of his tracks and his energy. Judging from his tribulations and interviews I've seen with him, he also seemed like a real dude. I don't think he cared about the fame or the money. He was just in it for the rapping. He always seemed to be wiser than the circumstances he'd wind up in or the people he surrounded himself with too. Really sad cause I've been casually keeping an eye out on what he was up to over the years hoping he would overcome his addictions. I thought he was doing better. Even though he was a shadow of himself I tuned into the verzuz he and Snoop had last year and was just enjoying the hell out of him performing. Huge loss for the rap community if he's in a vegetative state. This may just be his time...

Let Me Fly is my favorite song off my favorite album. Lyrics and emotion are too real. You just don't hear stuff like this anymore.

X is a legend. Hope he pulls through.

Not to pour more gasoline on this, but this past year has really turned me off Toronto. And it’s not so much the people, you’ll find douche bag chair girl types getting rich for being stupid on social media all over the world. I just find it’s an ugly city, like scenery wise there ain’t much here. Not big and cool like New York, not very scenic like Vancouver. It’s just this ugly in between city that’s boring.

Yah there's a reason ppl used to call toronto "the big smoke". It is kinda ugly in spots.

On the other hand....I never got to travel when I was younger....so meeting ppl from all over the world compensated for that. You can learn so much about the world just by meeting ppl in Toronto. It's something I'm really grateful for.

Don't wanna sound corny but it's true. I would have missed out on so much if I grew up in a homogeneous community. Food, music, culture, sharing origin stories. It's all genuinely enriching for us imo.

yeah people that have travelled a lot will say toronto sucks.
the night life that we are known for, absolutely overrated. maybe the variety of women makes it tolerable for people but the music selection absolutely sucks in the city

the food is great here though

About Toronto being overrated, it depends on which side of the travels you have seen. If you go to California and only see Beverley Hills then it's great. Or only visit their night life then it's amazing. However people should take in the entire standard of living including parts they do not see. If you have full health care in Miami living in a gated community and going to that night life - that's amazing but that's not average. I believe the fact that we can go almost anywhere in Toronto and not risk being killed is a big plus.

Women in Toronto can be stuck up, I'm fine with their selectiveness given there are more options. Women in some areas of the states can be downright loose and at times unruly. At the very least with the number of gyms, fitness classes, community centres and money around, women in Toronto tend to be fit. Maybe not Cali fit but still good. Toronto is not perfect but damn nice.

Anyways this is about DMX - haven't heard any recent updates so they're still probably deciding.
Ska needs to make a comeback.

Yeah, I'd say the perks of Toronto is the whole white Vegas scene which is died down or more common in other places now. King West, nothing special if you've been other places. Cabana pool bar? lol. And I'd say great food is common in most big cities as well.

As mentioned, it's that melting pot of cultures and perks of Canada (safe, health care, etc.) that makes it a great place to live. And yes, probably some of the best looking women anywhere hands down. Best in Canada anyways.

I think what we're good at is that we have the largest city in the world so there's really something for everyone, usually a lot of somethings. We have nature areas, parks, the waterfront, skiing, hiking and then we also have all the different restaurants and ethnic areas, then we have the entertainment district although I think the whole nightlife in this city has died down since Guvernment shut down, then you have tonnes of museums, art and culture related events, and of course all the sports. Lots of high end shopping too.
