Even on this board over the years there have been plenty of stats genii - Supersub from 10 years ago comes to mind. Not sure what Dan Hackett's background is, but he's as fluent with numbers as Blake Murphy.
But for the money that sports teams can offer, there should be plenty of basketball-loving stats PhDs out there to hire.
