Should The Raptors Revisit The Siakam To Warriors Trade?

There was always a debate amongst Raptor fans whether we will rebuild or retool to get back into contention. With the draft and our current offseason, most should agree that we are very far from contending.

Given that, I believe the Raptors should push for the rumoured Warriors deal. Both teams should be motivated to make it happen as it helps both sides reach their ultimate end goal faster.

I feel we are currently in the worst spot where we aren't good enough to be a successful playoff team but not bad enough to be a high lottery team. The trade would provide us a clear direction while stockpiling young talent to kick off a full rebuild.

Wiseman/Wiggins/Kuminga/Moody for Siakam/Boucher

Fred/ Flynn
Trent/ Moody
Wiggins/ Kuminga
OG/ Barnes
Wiseman/ Birch

The way offseason is going yes. Let’s revisit, no reason to fight for a play in game with this roster.

100% do it, but I doubt it was offered. 2 First round picks this year! (Masai could have chosen his own players)

I always stood on island rebuild. So I guess i'm buying all the real estate.

I think we would of made the deal if it was all those assets. That feels like a fleece for the Raps when Siakam is coming off surgery and isn't even fully healthy.

I would have done it if they had taken Sengun instead of Moody, this is why these types of trades need to be done before the draft, not after. At this point it makes more sense to keep Pascal until the trade deadline or next offseason and see what we can get then, hopefully his value increases by then.

Hell **** ing yes but I sadly that ship has sailed. Warriors were going to do that trade draft night if it was ever real.

I'm only interested in Wiggins via salary dump. Could be possible.

Yes, I think so - especially now since we know who those prospects are. Depending on where you think Barnes fits in positionally, we'd have high upside young players at every position. As they develop, those young pieces can be traded for futures, or packaged together for a star, or just be allowed to compete now and develop (hopefully in the playoffs). It's the most realistic path I see to becoming a legit contender again, unless there is some kind of surprise superstar trade where you can grab someone like Kawhi for cheap the way we did.

I think we wouldn't get all of those pieces - but I think Wiggins+Wiseman+Kuminga is doable, especially considering just how much they'll be paying to keep those prospects on their payroll.

It's honestly hilarious that people will just assume media speculated deals were "on the table", as stated on social media.

The Warriors trade actually never existed. It was pure fantasy. lol

Did they actually draft ayone that would have changed anything for them? If anything, it would have been more enticing to the RAPTORS when they could actually pick who they wanted.

I'm going to assume we were never offered as many assets as we would have hoped for. If the trade was always for less than Wiseman and the two lottery picks, I would think the trade would still be available until they actually trade for a star - unless Wiseman actually impresses. In that case, hopefully there's still a deal to be had if 2-3 of the following things happn: A) Siakam wants a trade B) we're a clear lottery team C) OG and Barnes 100% show we might as well move on.

The Warriors have been trying to package young players for a win-now star for a while now and Pascal’s clearly on the block. It makes too much sense for the rumors not to be true

It all depends how highly the Warriors value Siakam. If they think they can get a Beal/Lillard they’ll wait. I think Siakam would be a perfect fit w/ Steph & Klay tho vs. another guard

But there were no reports that suggested Wiggins, Wiseman and both the 7th nd 14th picks were available. It was pure fantasy that we created. We had 70 pages of it as if it were a hypothetical deal not a real one.

I haven't seen a single credible source state that the deal was ever on the table.

Exactly. Seems like the Warriors prefer Beal/Lillard and want to save this package for one of them even though Siakam is the clear better fit.

They can keep Moody if they're giving up too much but I thought the addition of Boucher could help with that. We can even toss in a 2nd rounder if it helps.

Wiggins takes one year of max salary off the books, he would expire with FVV and Trents opt out.

I would absolutely do this because the most important thing for the franchise right now is for OG and Barnes to develop as much and as fast as possible. Add Wiseman, Moody, Kuminga, Flynn and Achiuwe to this list and there's an outside chance every one of them can be solid rotation players if everything goes right.

Adding another athletic freak like Kuminga, Wiseman, Moody...with our coaching and dev work, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we somehow became aa playoff team WHILE rebuilding. We may be the only team in the league that can pull that off.

Honestly I'm of the opinion that Masai and Bobby wanna build the greatest defence ever. X-men type ****. An entire lineup of athletic specimens playing fundamental ball.

Most of all - this upcoming draft has 2 legit potential franchise players in Holmgren and Wembanyama. Those are the caliber of prospects that you absolutely want a shot at no matter what.

That's what Joe Lacob said few days ago "And I know this isn’t popular with a lot of people," Lacob told The Athletic's Anthony Slater. "They think we ought to go get the next star. We already have the stars. And we have a payroll that’s — and I’ve said this when I was interviewed before, but nobody listened. It’s very unlikely, I’ve said that we’re not going to trade for anybody that people are expecting. Very unlikely. It’s not impossible. But if it was going to be somebody, it was going to be somebody really great. It was going to be a big trade. It’s unlikely."" So the more likely path — and the path that I think, as an owner, I feel most comfortable with, quite frankly — is to bridge the gap to the future,” Lacob told Slater. “We’ve got three or four contracts and big players that are still in their early 30s, still have quite a bit of time to go, especially in this day and age. If we can kind of have a Wiseman and a Kuminga and a Moody and a Poole (help in the meantime). They don’t have to be awesome next year. With a great investment in our player development staff, we just want them to show great potential"

The only star player they wanted to trade for is Beal. They wouldn't sell their farm/future for Siakam. Forget it.

The Warriors are probably waiting for somebody better to become available. Siakam is probably one of their choices.

Yes but Warriors wouldn’t do it.

I don’t think people realize how low Siakam’s value is right now outside of our fandom. He’s barely a top 35 player in the league.
