I’m really sending positive thoughts for this guy! He has a golden opportunity. I think he can make a roster as 6 th man type but maybe 8th in rotation 15 mpg scoring burst. Hope it all works out.

As someone who watched MMA for a long time, if you were to get caught for cheating in the UFC, then went to fight else where in the world? They would never let you come back and fight in America! Ever!

I’m glad to see him rebounding and I’m also curious as to what type of drug use he was penalized for.

Good for him getting paid to play basketball still. The game growing so much globally has benefitted American players as well as everyone else.

I am not sure they disclosed that.
I suspect the drugs maybe only disallowed in NBA, while other leagues maybe less strict, so he can join other leagues for that reason.

Just off the top of my head -- Josh Barnett & Sean Sherk for a fact did just that.

Barnett failed at the worst possible time when he beat Randy Couture to win the UFC HW Championship lol went to fight for years in PrideFC and then came back when Pride went under. Sherk failed his test against Franca, fought 3 more times in the UFC, bounced around different fight organizations and came back to the UFC several times. Tim Sylvia got caught on steroids when he fought Arlovski, fought in IFC and came back to the UFC...

Honorable mentions for obvious steroid users with failed drug tests like Ken Shamrock, Vitor Belfort & Wanderlei Silva that they welcomed back with open arms and went on to headline AGAIN in the UFC.

Didn't Anderson Silva Jon Jones fail their drug tests? Always thought that each state had their local commissions so you would not be able to fight there but could still fight elsewhere in the same country.

In the ending, it depends on the type of player you are. If you're great, you will be back. If you're a scrub, it's goodbye since you're not worth the hassle.

Again, you're totally wrong. NSAC won't let you fight again unless you clear it up. Barnett fought for years and years in pride before he came back to the UFC. And it was a totally different time. That was pre tuf, things have changed.

Sherk got suspended for a year, came back a year later and lost to BJ. Never fought in other organizations after getting caught. He fought it and came back after like 10 month.

Ken Shamrock never failed a drug test in the UFC ever lol he failed against Kimbo but never on it. Vitor and Wand both served their suspentions or fought them w the commision. You know nothing abt MMA lol

If you want to give a good example, Cro Crop failed his drug test then just left the UFC and went to fight overseasons while being suspended. There's an example but he never came back to the UFC after that.

Not sure if we even have a spot for him by the time he's ready to be back but doesn't hurt from Raptors point of view to have another guy to consider for the spot.

I'm a little confused. The league and team frame it like he's suspended for the year so that he can get the help he needs. How does going to Italy to play ball help him?

If the suspension is to punish him (for whatever reason) then just say that plain and simple and don't dress it up as doing Jalen a favour or looking out for his best interests.

Obviously, I don't have all the info so maybe he already got the help and is just working through the suspension?
