Seriously, nothing will happen until trade deadline.. and then only dragic, Boucher, and Flynn will be in the conversation...

I would entertain a Pascal for KAT trade, but don't see it happening.

Minny would either want a player that is better than KAT to get them into the playoffs, or a good young prospect (i.e. OG/Barnes instead of Pascal). Pascal also has a higher salary than KAT which isn't enticing.

From our end I don't want us to send a boatload of picks either because that's our best way to acquire young talent. KAT is good but he's not a top 10 player. I would limit it to 2 picks, and they have to be protected.

I actually don't really care to add Turner if we are giving up Siakam. To me Turner gives us a starting center with size who makes it a bit easier to play Siakam, OG, and Barnes together SG-PF. He's also not so crazy good that we have to worry about sitting him when we want to go small when Siakam, OG, Barnes and Trent are feeling it. If we are trading for Turner, it's to improve our chances at making the playoffs, not just to get a little bit younger while losing some overall potential. We might not be able to get Turner without giving up Siakam, but if that's the case, we just move on. The beauty of expensive big men is that they are sometimes virtually given away. He's not good enough to break up our core for.

I think you just summed up managements approach to our “developmental phase”.

Unless we stumble into an all world centre, they aren’t going to pay for one until we’re ready to compete.

Probably in that exact order.

I would argue that Trent is overpaid but only a slightly, all things considered. Same thing with Pascal. The other two are wildly outplaying their contracts.

We really don't have any bad deals on the books.

What would it take to land Christian Wood?

Dragic + Alex Len to Dallas

Bagley + WCS + Trey Burke to Toronto

Powell + Boucher to Sacramento

They had two 2nds going to Toronto as well. 2022 from Sac and a 2024/25 from Dallas
Sacramento deserves a 2nd for taking on xtra year of Powell

Going to go ahead and decline this. I think Toronto can do better Dragic and Boucher. Even a Boucher for White from the Bulls is a better return than this.

Bagley is worth the risk as a reclamation project I think.
As we move towards the trade deadline the value for dragic will go down as most will wait for the Raptors to buy him out. If that deal is available then you have to pursue it.

Could we get Jacob Poeltl for Precious and Boucher? What is enough for San Antonio to say yes?

If the Kings were to accept that, the Knicks would cut the Raptors out and take Fox for themselves.

My vision is that the Knicks would want to pair Siakam with Beal or Lavine. I don’t think or front office would want to use that much cap space on Fox, who while good, can’t shoot and is not a net positive on D.

Love Poeltl and would love to get him back, but I don’t see us trading Achiuwa for him. We’re building for the future and trading a young player for a guy who’s entering his prime now isn’t something we should be doing

If we won't trade for someone Pascal's age, then Pascal is also too old for this team.

We need rim protection and management needs to decide if that rim protection will learn and grow with the young players, or perform now with the older.

It is very expensive to trade for high quality young rim protection. That's why I think Jacob is more affordable.

Anyone willing to move dragic and bouchers expirings to the kings for Hield if they end up bottoming out? I wouldn’t mind overpaying him if it means we have some reliable shooting/scoring off the bench. We could be a lot less reliant on the starters playing big minute and allow scottie to play all of the back up forward minutes which is probably better for him anyway:

Fvv/banton/Flynn
Trent/Hield/svi
OG/Barnes/ yuta
Siakam/Barnes
Birch/ achiuwa

If it looks like we are clicking all of a sudden and closer than a top 6 seed than a bottom play-in team then maybe.

He should help our bench scoring, it's awful right now. Personally I wouldn't because I lean towards getting young assets back instead of making a marginal win-now move.

My biggest thing is making sure that cap space continues to be used and not left to expire. It takes years to creep back up near the tax line one you drop back down to the basic cap and being up there in payroll is pretty much necessary for a contender. If there are really bad contracts that come with assets attached I’d gladly go that route but getting a solid contributor that has a skill the roster lacks is also totally fine with me.

I think his presence out there would also really help Scottie and Delano as well so in a way, it’s helping with development.
