I have been a member of this board for a bit. The Hater was one of the few posters here who kept me actively involved based on his tremendous insight and passion for basketball.

He was caring and empathetic, but brutally realistic and data-driven when he needed to be. He was the absolute model of how our fan base should behave and I'd encourage everyone to dig into his post history a little more and get a sense of the tremendous man behind the opinions he shared.

I've never been the most objective poster and I'll forever be grateful for his kindness and realness in keeping me grounded. This community would be absolutely lesser than without his insight and I'm truly gutted by his loss.

I'm really sad about this. I'd been wondering where he was lately. One of my good pals on the GB and I'm going to miss him very much. Love to his friends and family. I'm legit crying right now. Rest well my friend.

Damn, RIP teddd - I remember the days spent on Usenet, obsessing over this weird sport and outcast team that only a few other freaks online seemed to care about.

I'm glad he got to see the Raptors win a ring.

Damn. Long time reader of realgm, and I remember appreciating his point of view on some takes.

I wish his family nothing but the best. He'll be missed in this community.

**** cancer indeed.

He never once made fun of me for trying to argue that Bargs was actually good. The Goat. One of the must reads.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Wow, RIP. I don't interact with a lot of people on this board aside from responding/replying in threads, but he was one of the few that I PM'ed back and forth with a bit. I vividly remember the first time was because we had a disagreement before the 2017/18 season regarding the defence of the team and it got a bit heated in the thread lol. We took our conversation to PMs and resolved it in no time once we both understood a bit better where we we were coming from then never had any issues with each other again.

As others have said, cancer SUCKS. My mom was fighting cancer throughout the early parts of the pandemic last year and ended up passing away suddenly on my fiancée's birthday (which really sucks because now that day obviously has other meanings). Also lost a co-worker as well as an old neighbour to cancer earlier this year. It seems like the older I get the more people around me are passing away from cancer.

Thanks for passing the message Yuri.

He'll be missed. RIP.

Hater died at 54 years old? F the hell outa that! Condolences to his family.

You can't help your genetic history, which may have been what did Hater in. But you can reduce the risk factors. And alter gene expression patterns. I'm comparably, uh, seasoned. In the last 2-3 years, I've really wrestled my sleep issues and dietary and anti-exercise demons to the ground. I've never been in better shape in my life.

His sig should be immortalized:

As others in here posted, i was around in the old usenet days too and teddd and i used to discuss and debate a fair bit over what this organization needed to do to get the Raps a championship as far back as 2001. As analytics evolved our views evolved. I never met him in real life but he was a regular part of my online life for the better part of the last 20 years. I always say i don’t get attached to anyone online, but in this case that would be a lie. I will miss him, i had fully expected to read more of his posts whenever the Jays or Raps won another title, or talking about what young new draft pick would become a stud, for at least another 20 years yet

RIP teddd

I'm not a big time poster on this board (I post more frequently on a different board). But The_Hater was one of the posters on this board that I respected quite a bit in the short time that I've been here. To the point where whenever I saw one of his posts, I'd usually be nodding in agreement.

Glad the Raptors and this community helped him get through a difficult time. And he will definitely be missed. Wish I could have shared all this while he was still around.

RIP. He was a crucial part of this community and will be missed. I wasn't super close to him but I enjoyed reading his posts and often had very interesting takes when it came to the Raptors.

We will miss you, The_Hater. <3

RIP. I have no clue how long I have been on here but he was there making some edgy posts and I would think oh its The Hater of course... but he wasn't always flaming something (Bargs) he was somebody who I checked out his number of And1's and would gauge my own over the topness or rush to judgment. 54!!! good grief. Clear sailing Hater. Need to put up his last post and we can all say RESPECT.
