On their latest podcast, they rank the top 10 organizations and give their criteria of what they consider the best organizations.

Nate has the Raptors at 1 and John has the Raptors at 3.

Just thought I’d share the reputation and validity this organization has among NBA circles and that you guys should trust them to build a contender really soon rather than pointlessly argue.

They really are up there. The amount of resources they have put into the team is nuts. The analytics department and facilities are second to none. Also best front office and coach bar none.

The free agents haven’t come yet but wait till the great young Canadian players become free agents.

We might not have "location" or even be in the US. But since Masai's been here he's demanded MLSE put for resources into the Raptors and basketball in Canada for that matter. Man, he even got us the G-league team and one could make the argument that we were the first team to really utilize it for player development.

The organization is tops... whether that translates to any top free agents coming here is another story, but as an organization they have done everything as well as possible...

Tim was 100% part of the process. But it was Masai who stayed adamant that we need a g league team.

When I took the job [with the Raptors] it was a priority for me, for us to have a D-League team and a practice facility,” Ujiri said. “Tim [Leiweke] was huge with this and really gave us the opportunity, and ownership, buying into this. We didn’t know what the timeline was so I absolutely give the NBA all the credit in the world for accommodating us and making this happen.”

Members of Raptors management met with D-League President Malcolm Turner in New York City during the 2015 All-Star weekend. Their presentation left D-League executives impressed.

“We hosted Masai and his team here in our offices and Masai laid out a vision for the NBA Development League and how it could be an important platform for the Toronto Raptors,” Turner explained. “The big idea was looking at a launch opportunity in Canada. We were intrigued and leaned in at that part of the conversation. Shortly thereafter I had another meeting in Toronto to really start to dig in, beyond NBA D League 101, to talk market and the opportunity in Mississauga.”

I still remember the day when Lieweke was guest on Bob McCown's show shortly after he was hired and he talked about his #1 priority was hiring a President for the Raptors and he described in detail what type of guy he wanted for this role. He wanted someone with the character and presence that resonates throughout the organization from top down and mentioned Pat Riley as a great example. Then Bob says how about Phil Jackson and then Tim politely laughed that off saying Phil is a good friend of his and though he'd welcome his help but didn't think he would be interested. Shortly after that interview, Masai wins Exec of the Year award, and then Tim hires Masai.

Interesting. Reading this board you'd think we were near the bottom.

I've actually seen posters saying that the Houston Rockets have a brighter future.

To be fair, there are a few owners the way you describe and I wouldn't say they are all super successful. There are pros and cons to both.

This makes absolutely no sense. Roger's has equal stake to Bell, and Tanenbaum is the swing vote, which is exactly why Masai got the deal that he did this summer despite Ed's thinly veiled racism and full-blown narcissism. The MLSE governance structure is working exactly as intended.

And all of that has NOTHING to do with the actual operation of the team, which has been exemplary by any standard since Masai was hired. The two things you should judge ownership on are a) are they staying out of the way of their competent FO (i.e. the opposite of Vivek in Sacramento) and b) are they providing the necessary investment (eg. they were a tax team in their competitive window.

what's more ridiculous is that to say that Hollinger and Duncan don't really follow the team that closely when they are the epidemy of that. They are the only guys who go in depth on every team rather than ESPN and NBATV focusing on big markets.
Those guys follow every move a team makes and keep spreadsheets of transactions and cap sheets.

Lmao, Hollinger has the Nets at #1 and Clippers #2. This guy is such a clown.

amazing, were the number 1 ran organization in the league yet we dont have a "real" point guard apparently.
