[Wolfson] Toronto Raptors are a team to keep an eye on

Post#1 » by Raptors_128 » Mon Dec 6, 2021 11:19 pm

Credit to inxrx8 on Reddit.

Apparently the Raptors are looking to make moves on Dec 15 when more players are available for trade. Wolfson mentions Chris Boucher as a name to watch.

I think we could see Boucher/Dragic moved by then. Don’t really see any other moves being made this early.

Quote:
“December 15th is when trade talk will pick up. Many more players will be trade-eligible on that particular date. I continue to hear from non-Wolves league executives that the Toronto Raptors are a team to keep an eye on, that the Raptors are willing to do some things, are looking to do some things. I think about a guy like Chris Boucher, they have some bigs that could be of interest to the Wolves. I don't necessarily know if the Wolves and Raptors connected in recent days or weeks, but I was told by multiple people to keep an eye on the Raptors.”

Don't get your hopes up. Boucher and Dragic aren't going to bring you back anything significant.

I’d be happy to get a 2nd rounder for either Boucher or Dragic at this point

we've heard over & again that Pascal is available. I think rehabbing his value is a top priority this season

obviously with the new core of players Pascal/FVV don't quite fit the timeline, and you have to think this team is headed to the lottery at least once more before we aim to be contenders

might make sense to blow it up now and get things fast tracked

at the same time I do think we're one star player away from being a true contender. you have to hand it to Masai, we're always in position to go move in any direction & let the market dictate what we do. other teams will be forced to make bad trades because they are in dire "win now" mode while other losing teams have nothing beyond their picks to offer to improve

Of course the random Minnesota guy has penetrated the cone of silence around the Raptor FO
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

I don't think it is obvious. You think in 3 years Raptors will contend with all 26 year old and under roster? and 30 year old Siakam and Fred will be too old? You will end up blowing things up to irrelevance for the next 10 years.

It's actually been much more common to hear Raptors news from other team's beat guys because they have their own sources. Masai can't do anything about what other orgs divulge about their conversations with the Raptors.

I would run down the street naked if that happened. Dont see that ever happening, the most lopsided trade ever.

One guy to look at from the wolves would be Naz Reid. He's having a good season and he's a good stretch 5 who can guard as well.

Well depends how you define "significant" I guess...

I think maybe only a handful of homers exist that think they can net some form of a star lol but I think most people are reasonable and that really you never know what they might net. Extreme low end, yes it could be as simple as a salary swap attaching a 2nd rounder but that imo seems extremely pessimistic. That hasn't been the usual outcome for this front office.

Teams (like the TWolves) that are looking at guys like Boucher and Dragic are without doubt "win-now" teams which means they'll generally be willing either to part with a young player with some potential that they don't have the time to wait on (MIN wants to show Towns now before they starting getting to 2 years and under, that they're serious about winning now). They already brought in Beverly. They might decide they just need another veteran player to make more of a go of it and who knows maybe flip Okogie + McDaniels for Boucher. Boucher offers them bit more shot blocking, spacing and already knows his role. For us obviously we see how we can develop a kid like McDaniels who has a decent looking skillset to work with, maybe not?! I could very easily see us grooming Jaden to take Chris' role....and then some.

But something like that will likely be the play because we're not paying up to keep Boucher, rookie contracts (*ahem* GT Jr) give us more control and ofc Goran was always salary filler now it's just can they get anything back without having to take on much to do so. But I'm sure the ask will be a younger player with some potential, a late 1st or at worst early 2nd -- given their track record ie/ OG, Pascal etc who's to say it doesn't end up being a significant long term piece?! Heck we've gotten players like Norm, Banton and don't forget Jalen Harris out of those 2nd rd picks -- I'll take that over just losing the player over nothing. DAL is sitting at 6th with the Nuggets and Lakers behind them. How long do they think that will hold up?! What are they even getting out of Moses Brown or Josh Green?! At worst Goran is a vet to helps the lockerroom with Luka. If not, there's always bunch of cusp teams that are desperate to become or remain relevant ie/ NYK - maybe Knox/McBride, LAC - need to shed salary maybe Raps still love Keon Johnson but have to eat a year of Bledsoe's contract).

Yeah it's nothing crazy but I'd welcome any of those trades or something like it and it would just add to the excitement of what these younger guys can build up to become. Personally I'm more than good with that.

I would be shocked if they traded Mcdaniels for Boucher. That is a straight steal.

You're forgetting the 3 future first round pick swaps, dude! That's why Masai stays the long game

Doubt any trade happens. Buyout for Dragic most likely happen.

Josh Okogie incoming. It is only a matter of time.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Barely have watched him, but his stats are very similar to Boucher. Not sure why they would trade him or want Boucher
