Said this before and i'll say it again. I have been wrong about players a million times. I thought demar was gonna slowly fade out. I was wrong. I thought joey graham showed alot of promise in his rookie season. Wrong. I thought demarre carroll was a great pickup for us lol. Wrong. I thought Khris Middleton would never win a chip. Wrong.

There's nothing wrong with having an inaccurate assessment of a player. There IS something wrong in spamming the boards for months, even years, with outright hate. And it's also illuminating when u can't just fess up to being surprised or acknowledging an error in perception and continually update your talking points rather than just accept the results.

The large majority of ppl who doubted fred and flirted with some fred hate from time to time have done what normal ppl do: acknowledged that he's far exceeded expectations.

It's possible i was the MOST optimistic about fred around here and i didnt see THIS season happening. And i don't think fred is done yet. He's figuring stuff out on a cerebral level that goes beyond his physical limitations. At this point...he may be on his way to being the best 2 way point guard in the league.

It's a beautiful thing to see.

If we move up out of the play in...he will not be denied.

I would argue that most Fred haters have even come to terms with it. It's just one individual really. And his opinion will never change. Well actually technically it's two people. I forgot the one that's hated Fred for years and thought Flynn and Delon would be better LOL

It would be hypocritical for me to incessantly say "i told you so" while being wrong about countless other stuff. Fred's just always been my guy.

Part of it mught be his name/heritage. I'm dutch canadian and so was my flatmate of 5 years. We took care of alot of kids back then because he had 16 siblings who all had kids. So we became babysitters on most weekends. Two men and like 5 to 8 kids in a 2 bedroom apt.

In anycase...one day one of the kids had a school assignment where they described their family tree and heritage. She came home upset because the classroom bully told her "black ppl cant be dutch". So we were talking to her about it while a raptor game was on (bench mob days) and we pointed out "look! Fred vanvleet. Thats a dutch name!". We ended up buying her a vanvleet jersey for xmas.

There's alot of dutch ppl in illinois for some reason that goes back a long time.
