The February 10 trade deadline is three weeks away and, according to multiple league and team sources, the Raptors intend to operate as buyers

Good. Get Fred and Pascal some F'ing help.

It makes sense but I don’t trust any of Toronto media and nobody really has sources with our FO
If we’re buyers, I’d prefer Poeltl over Turner considering the injury and what Indiana is rumored to be asking

No truth to it until something happens.

Don't get the obsession with Poeltl. He adds a win or two but doesn't move the needle whatsoever.

I don’t think we get a big. I think they are after a guard.

Remember when Gasol first arrived, he didn't score much but suddenly the three point shooting % of the team went way up. I think Poeltl with his passing might that have kind of positive chemistry effect on our offense.
edit - not as good as Gasol, but like that
If Turner wasn't hurt I'd rather have him though because of his 3 pt shooting.

He would be a notable improvement over what we have now and could be a part of what we hope will be the next contender.
I don't see trading for Poeltl as a deadline move though. That feels more like a draft/offseason move if something was going to happen. You'd probably want to see who else is out there. I think someone like Turner is more likely as a deadline deal. (I still doubt that happens either).

I don’t see a way any of our starting 5 get traded. It would have to be a big return for any one of those guys.

That would be good too. As long as Birch comes back and stays healthy. A combo guard who can spell Fred at the point and also shoot would be ideal.
I just hope we don't get yet another development project, who we hope can learn to shoot later. We need a guy who can play right now.

He stays healthy...does exactly what we want.. rebound and set picks... starting center for us..with Pascal OG Barnes and Freddy... we need bench help for sure..some fire power along with GT2 with open access to jack up a 3 whenever he wants..need a decent backup point guard.. and we good for the playoffs..nobody will want to play against us..

Lewenberg poses the situation in a good way:
Have president Masai Ujiri and general manager Bobby Webster seen enough from this young group to expedite the timeline and make a run in this wide-open Eastern Conference?
I say yes. Without touching the core 5, add to them with a young vet who can help now and stay awhile too.

I don't see Toronto making a big move. Maybe they can acquire one useful rotation player but that's all I see.
Impact player/impact starter is wishful thinking imo.

Everyone wants another big when we're a horrible shooting team. If anything we need bette4vperimeter play. Guys that can catch and shoot efficiently without wasting dribbles and fontvneed the ball in their hands.

The article doesn't contain that quote about Feb. 10th. It's just Lewenberg giving his riff on Nurse's comments. Intending to operate as buyer's gives a false impression. Masai/Bobby make deals if it makes sense to them and the price is right. I think the FO/Nurse feel we're ok with Birch/Precious and will not pay the asking price for Poetl/Turner. The supposed need for a C is an RGM brainfart. For sure, they will do everything to avoid going into the tax.

We aren't contenders and lack assets. Not sure how it makes sense for us or is doable. Maybe they can find an elite shooter somewhere.

With us already lucking into an absolute stud (Barnes), two ending contracts that we aren't likely to bring back, and a young guy in Flynn who has no role, I'd expect and hope us to be buyers. Can't help but also hope someone like Chicago really wants and overpays for Boucher though.

Because we moved Siakam and Barnes to play PG/SG off the bench, so we are playing 3 bigs off the bench (Achiuwa / Birch / Boucher / Champagnie). Having another 3&D forward or big may give us better spacing as well.
