So following last nights game, Doug Smith tweeted out that Armoni Brooks had been signed to a multi-year deal.



The tweet was made to seem legitimate, but turns out old man Doug was just joking around.



I don't know what kind of idiot would make such a joke but imagine being Brooks or his family and seeing this tweet, getting all excited, just to find out it was a lie.

Can't imagine the team being happy with their most renowned beat writer putting out some BS like this. I think it's time for Dougie to retire.

Hopefully Brooks gets some good news FOR REAL this time around. His 10 day expires today and he's done everything this team could've asked for. Played a pivotal role in both the Philly win and last night against Cleveland.

well he should get a new contract. He is more useful than Flynn and Banton for this roster atm.

Such an odd sequence of events. Hopefully there is something in the works for Brooks.

All this just to "get back" at fans online who called him out for now doing his job.

Hopefully the team just goes ahead and guarantees his contract, brooks has actually been solid.

Don't generalize. This was in response to a very specific and stupid tweet.

He's the most tenured guy on the beat, and he worded it in a way that made it seem official in every way.

It was irresponsible and he should own it. Doesn't mean he's trash, has always been bad or anything else about his past.

That said.. a longer term cheap deal..I'm in.

Doug Smith provides absolutely nothing. His only claim to fame is when Kawhi said "I don't even know where you sitting at, ha ha hahaha"
