Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread 3
It would be so cool if he wins rookie of the year in this epic rookie class.

I can't remember the last time the ROY award was this debated, but maybe I just haven't cared since we haven't had a legit candidate since Vince.

I wouldn't be shocked if they were co-rookies of the year with Evan and Scottie. Even Cade could take one of the spots.

If Scottie Barnes weren't the rookie of the year, why would he need three full threads?

First page real estate! That's how it works right?
Anyway, I've been blown away by Scottie this year. When you look at Game 1 Scottie vs Game 75 Scottie, he's been getting better every single game. Can't wait to see what he looks like in year 3-4

Scottie ROY will be a top 10 NBA player (possibly top 5) in his prime.

Scary to think that Barnes might be a top 20 player in the NBA as soon as next year.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread 3
I wanted to read an up to date Roty article to see where the American media opinion stands. I found this article from the Sporting News. When I looked at the stats, Scottie had the slight advantage. But then I read the analysis, and it was like living in another world. Every slight win for Scottie was called a draw. Obvious wins were either ignored or downplayed.
Check it out, but if you dont want to give them the clicks, some of the highlights are below:
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/scottie-barnes-evan-mobley-cade-cunningham-rookie-of-the-year-race/tqrdb3usa7xi6116dwbt7zv5
"The only category where one of them has a clear advantage over the other is blocks". Barnes has 3.5 assists to Mobley's 2.5.
"Once again, Cunningham's scoring pops" Above a table where Scottie has 1079 points and Cade has 1075.
" Barnes and Mobley have almost identical advanced stats, though Barnes does hold a slight edge in Player Efficiency Rating (PER), Value Over Replacement Player (VORP), Box Plus/Minus (BPM) and win shares." Barnes holds the advantge of between .5 to 2.1 in all advanced metrics. The only metric on the table the author used where Scottie doesn't have the advantage is usage, which should be massively counted in his favour, but is not commented on.
The most frustrating part about all this, is the article starts with "so we're here to provide some of the cold hard facts by comparing both their traditional and advanced stats heading into the final week of the season."
OMITED - The fact that Scottie has maintained his health and will finish with 5 more games played. As Jack always says, the best ability is availability.
OMITED - Discussion of fit - no acknowledgement of difficult unique role given to Scottie on offense of defense, and the fact no rookie has been asked to do it since maybe Magic. Though he does acknowledged the issue of fit for Cade "While Cunningham lags far behind in the impact metrics, it is worth noting that he doesn't have nearly the same surrounding talent as Barnes and Mobley."
I hope for his sake Scottie wins. He wants it, he has worked his butt off for it, he has earned it. If he played in Chicago, LA, NY or Boston, it would be a fore gone conclusion. I am crossing my fingers and hoping he has at least one more big game.
I don't know when Roty votes need to be submitted but I hope NN rests the vets and lets Scottie run the show our final two games against Houston and NY. Our final game is in Madison Square Gardens. If he balls out, that could be the deciding factor. Knicks may not be what they used to, but MSG with all of its local NBA media is still a place where stars are born.

Scottie really deserves it for his consistency and durability. Plus our winning record, too.

People say that Scotty is this happy go lucky dude. Am I the only one who thinks he's actually pretty arrogant and cocky... and like it?

On the court he isn't nice, friendly or humble.

Great video on scottie's strengths and weaknesses. Somethings will improve with time (defensive awareness, the no-look stuff) but shooting is going to be the key to his success.

Re: Official Scottie Barnes Thread 3
With the playoffs coming up, I've had this in mind
Some players, they are great during the regular season. They bring it every night, contribute to wins, and put up numbers
Some players have another gear in the playoffs. When the lights get brighter, they elevate their game and are true playoff performers that can sway games and be the X factor in a series
Will Scottie be that type of player? does he have a "playoff" gear we haven't seen yet? I'm so excited to find out. we all know he's special, but how quickly will we see it on the biggest of stages?

I know Green has turned it on lately but interesting if he makes the first team over Giddey
