Does it all of the time, especially against smaller guards. They just blitz him because his lateral movement isn’t that fast.

I'm fine with errors of commission/aggression - he'll learn.

I think it's a good thing to do because not only is he testing himself, but it's also testing the help defence.

He's got that natural feel for the game on offence, I think it will eventually slow down for him on D too. Older Kawhi is a great example in that he didn't have the same lateral quicks anymore but was still able to use his hands, frame and (most importantly) mind to compensate.

Probably the only person in and outide the NBA that thinks Barnes can't be versatile defensively. Cool story.

You okay bud ? He's one of the most versatile defenders in the league, I 100% think he can guard smaller guards, it's just pressing up so hard on them makes his life so much harder. I don't care how good you are at moving your feet, you're not keeping up with the guards if you're literally chest to chest with them at the half court line.

Smaller guards only? He's pressing up on him because he's at the side-line and not in a spot to shoot, our team hunts turnovers, but mostly I'm sure because its Malachi Flynn. Normally Barnes does guard a step back because he has the length to get to you and block your shot. He doesn't get blown by often because does have the speed to keep up and that same length allows him to contest at the rim. I don't even know what you're talking about tbh.

Let's not forget Scottie picked up Harden the whole length of the court and forced him to take a terrible shot. Scottie has shown numerous times he's capable of picking up guards the whole length of the court.

These runs are fun to watch, but it really is just pickup and guys working on microskills. I wouldn't read too much into them.

The speed at which they need to read and react is so different, and systems are almost entirely absent.

My biggest takeaways have been a) it's great to see nearly the entire team just playing together and b) it's great to see them getting work in and setting themselves up for a strong training camp.

Regarding Barnes' specifically, it's nice to see the form improvement (especially on his 3). The gather and shooting action still looks slow, but if he keeps up this rate of improvement I can see him being more successful actually getting these off in games.

I'm kind of surprised the Raptors don't have their workout facility in LA. A lot of guys spend their summers there anyway.

You could have the same layout of the OVO Centre, and any of the guys can show up.

and if any new guys are joining the team in the offseason, it could give them a feeling of their new home, before actually going to OVO centre.

What would they do with that facility the rest of the year? It would be weird for MLSE to invest in an LA facility that only gets used in the offseason just because some players like to workout in LA.

He got blown by at times due to him playing too tight defensively, but he scaled back later part of the season.

Which is fine... Mobley was more glorified for his defensive presence this year anyway. Either way what he showed was spectacular and very deserving of the praise he received. He may not have been as good as Scottie but he was still one of the best rookies in NBA history and thats saying alot.
