Oddsmaker places Gobert to Toronto at 50-50

Post#1 » by Dalek » Mon Jun 13, 2022 11:55 pm

The Toronto Raptors have emerged as the favorite to land Rudy Gobert via trade at even money (+100) according to MyBookie.ag.

This is an interesting development as the sports gambling site says it’s more likely that Gobert will play for the Raptors next year than he will with the Utah Jazz.

Other possible suitors listed are the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, and Los Angeles Lakers.

https://www.si.com/nba/jazz/news/rudy-gobert-trade-rumor-raptors-odds

I think the Gobert for Anunoby+Trent deal should work but I would push to add Birch and get NAW in return. People might not like giving up such great young assets, but Gobert is a DPOY so there always comes a cost to a transaction like this. Honestly, the Jazz would not have had their success without Rudy anchoring the team defense (they had a top tend defense playing Conley, Mitchell, Clarkson, Bogdanovic on court). Imagine what it would be like with higher end defensive players.

Anunoby projects as a 20 PPG scorer next year and will be great to pair with Donovon Mitchell. They start their rebuild.

Gobert accelerates Toronto's contender timeline with a supersized Gobert, Achuiwa/Boucher, Siakam, Barnes, FVV line-up. Could still get a shooter in FA or draft if needed.

I've been crying about getting a real center more than most but no way am I trading our young players for a 30 year old Gobert.

The timelines don't add up for him to be traded here. If he were 3/4 years younger then it would be a no brainer.

2 starters for Gobert is dumb and absolutely a non starter for us. This needs to die, there's no Avenue for Gobert to Toronto where we aren't getting crapped on in the deal

giving up og and gary for gobert would be so hilariously backwards. the front office would be rightfully ripped for doing that deal.

that's an awful offensive lineup. spacing with barnes/gobert is a no-go. and that basketball would be dreadful to watch.

gobert is almost untradeable imo. he isn't a guy you can play in the playoffs and isn't nearly worth his contract.

I’d rather let Achiuwa play majority minutes at the 5. OG and Trent is a bit too much and we dont really have other matching salaries. Gobert makes too much money,

OG + Trent + Birch

For

Gobert + Clarkson

Works on trade checker. I'd have to get two 1st for me to even consider that.

I wouldn't say untradeable, teams gotta still get to the playoffs and some franchises will pay/trade just to get into the playoffs. I agree we shouldn't give up that much for him tho...

True that a lot of Utah's successes were because of Gobert. But also a lot of the Raptor's successes were because of OG and Gary.

If the Jazz are willing (if it can even work) to trade Gobert for some of our bench guys like Flynn, Yuta, Bonga etc plus some future picks, then the Raptors should and would consider it.

But I would think OG and Gary, with how good they played, can probably fetch more on the trade market than Gobert.

This is insane. Anyone know if we can combine a S&T Boucher with Trent and Birch and maybe a 1st instead of giving OG?

Dont just trade OG and Trent for him, throw in Barnes and Precious too, then maybe they'd consider it

I think they are rightfully going to ask for a lot.
.

Gobert finished 10th in EPM, where as Trent and OG 69th and 76th.
Raptor 4th to 97th and 118th.

The Raptors just don't have the shooting and depth to facilitate such a trade and make it worth it.

I love how everyone says OG would look sooo good next to Mitchell or Lillard.

We know.

OG is a great young player and theres no better fit for the group we have now.

Should be fun watching Gobert get run off the floor when teams go small and play spread PnR.

Not happening.

I'd much rather have Ayton .
