Last thing ill say on this....If Woods for 26 is a bad trade 20 for Thad was the worst move in the history of all NBA trades...33rd pick does not matter man ...If you guys think there are that many usefull NBA players in the draft more power to ya....Especially at 33...

The draft is all luck and in every draft you get about 2-3 all stars if your lucky, 1 generational player if lucky, And about 5 Really good role players if lucky....And the rest are fringe NBA players or see themselves out the league once their contract is up...

If you can get a guy who put up 18/10 in the NBA for a pick that low you do it everytime....Idc if hes on a bad team putting up 18/10 in the best league in the world is not easy....If you can get a good player for a pick that might end up being a G-leaguer or most likely then good on you....

If you think the Raps will strike gold at 33 the chances are astronomically low for that to happen....There are not 33 role players in this draft let alone The raptors be the ones to select the diamond all star at 33 lol chances are slim fella...But carry on

You’re full of contradictions.

Christian Wood is not a good basketball player. The fact you can’t see this is concerning.

We didn’t trade the 20th pick outright. We dropped down 13 spots in the draft. We got a player that makes more of an impact on winning than Christian Wood. 18/10 means nothing in this league. Enes Kanter, JV, Hassan Whiteside, Andre Drummond can also put up great numbers and yet none of them have any value in this league.

If you think that there is a big difference between 20 and 33 then you are grossly misinformed. This has been discussed numerous times on this forum.

Hi Los, hows it going man?

Jonas Valanciunas signed a 2 year / $30,135,000 contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, including $30,135,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $15,067,500. In 2022-23, Valanciunas will earn a base salary of $14,700,000, while carrying a cap hit of $14,700,000 and a dead cap value of $14,700,000.

Yeah and its a reduction from what he would get if he put up those numbers playing any another position. But since he's a big slow centre, it is what it is.

On a better team he would probably play only 16-20 minutes a night and be paid for playing like the 7th-8th player in minutes and that's about 1/8 of the cap. Seems right on and fine since NOP isn't going to compete during his contract.

That’s proving my point. He’s getting Doug McDermott and Luke Kennard money.

And how many of those listed players are more valuable to an nba team than, say, Thad Young, Los?

How in the world is Wood a 5, and a better 5, when and Precious Achiuwa is not, despite playing the position infinitely better defensively?

And wood is 27 next year not 23. He's not a prospect anymore in any way.

Wood, and his next contract will not be worth the pick and you can bookmark that.

Maybe I should reword that..

I believe Precious is best suited at the 4, next to a stretch 5.

I think the majority here think... which stretch 5 is there that is available or not that is better than Achiuwa? And if you get that great stretch five, then obviously only 4 of the 6 FVV, GTJ, PS, SB, OG, PA can start. I'll assume GTJ is the one traded? So then what? You try and send OG to the bench? Barnes? Not good options either and they are also probably better than that stretch 5.

Yeah I hear you. Not advocating any starting line up changes or any of that stuff. Just trying to counter these claims that Wood is useless. Now, will he next contract be worth it? Unsure, since we dont know what that will end being

Still, like it for the mavs as a low risk move to add talent. If it doesn’t work you cut him loose after a year.
