PJ Tucker opts out, hit's FA.
This smells like a Pat Riley gambit. Tucker opts out and then signs back for 2 years at lower salary, but higher dollar total.
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

How interesting that PJ Tucker and Andrea Bargnani were both drafted by the Raptors together. Tucker was quickly given up on, but eventually had a longer Basketball Career and NBA stint, and also contributed to be an NBA Champion.

Tucker is not exactly the most loyal guy in the world. I can't believe he didn't stay with the Bucks last year. Or us in 2018.
But he sure can shoot, and bring toughness to a team. And ... play C in a pinch.

Re: PJ Tucker opts out, hit's FA.
If I’m not mistaken, Tucker opting out is a bit of a blow to Miami if they wanted to do a Beal trade. They need his 7 million along with Robinson and Herro to get to Beal’s salary for trade. Unless Lowry is used instead of course. Maybe not wanting to thrown in trade was part of why he opted out. Most contenders only have the taxpayer MLE to offer starting at 6.2 so he might end up getting less…
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

he prob does want a long term contract but with oladipo also looking to get paid, he may not re-sign with them. they're close enough to the lux tax as it is.

Tucker wanted to come back but the Bucks basically told him to go find an offer and they'll match the contract. He said he felt offended and left. That's what he said to a reporter that asked anyways.

The most important thing to PJ is living somewhere sunny and no state tax. He is not leaving

They'd have to use MLE to sign him if they want him back. Doubt they do it. This also means they have more room under the tax for Oladipo's contract.

He's 37, and on the tail end of his career. If he thinks he can get a contract for more than 1 year with a higher total overall, why not.

can resign him for 120% of previous salary, will still have MLE to use afterwards. they can bump up his salary to $8.4 mil, probably signs another 1+1 with them.

Hahahaha this guy is a terrible basketball player. When we got him there was this talk about him being that Lebron stopper.
Lebron was fingerspinning the ball while draining shots on his face. 4 on 5 basketball on the other end.

The annual Beal-fest. Beal is happy collecting his ducats in Sacramento East. He's lined up for a 5-year $248M extension -- why would he want to go to Miami and have to work for a living?

How? They don't have his bird rights. What am I missing here? I'm assuming you're talking about Tucker.

So a quality player at 35th pick overall. hmmm. (that hmmm wasn't aimed at you.)

No, that was Ibaka. And apparently you're a trash player if you can't stop LeBron.

He's still a very good role player. Solid defender and one of the best corner 3pt shooters in the league.
He's a guy that plays within his role and doesn't ever try to do too much. Also a clutch player.

can resign a non bird right player for 120% raise.
https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2022/04/hoops-rumors-glossary-non-bird-rights-6.html
Teams are eligible to sign their own free agents using the Non-Bird exception for a salary starting at 120% of the player’s previous salary, 120% of the minimum salary, or the amount of a qualifying offer (if the player is a restricted free agent), whichever is greatest. Contracts can be for up to four years, with 5% annual raises.
in this case tucker can only sign a 3 year contract because of over38 rule.
so the heat can resign him for $8.4 mil and still keep MLE, but if wants closer to $10 mil, then they will have to use MLE to resign him.
