They need his 7 million along with Robinson and Herro to get to Beal’s salary for trade. Unless Lowry is used instead of course. Maybe not wanting to thrown in trade was part of why he opted out. Most contenders only have the taxpayer MLE to offer starting at 6.2 so he might end up getting less…

Hmm interesting.

Even if he intends to stay in Miami, Given that he’s 37, makes sense that he’d want to keep his doors open and maintain control of his off-season.

Lebron was fingerspinning the ball while draining shots on his face. 4 on 5 basketball on the other end.

Nick Nurse said in his interview process for the head coaching job for Raptors that what he would have done differently in 2017 playoffs is he would have started PJ Tucker for all the games and played him 40 mins. Casey started Demarre Carroll, Patrick Patterson, and Norm over him in Games 1 to 3. Lebron was finger spinning the ball when Ibaka was guarding him, Tucker barely played. It wasn't until Game 4 that Casey decides to start PJ and play him 45 mins and that was the closest game of the series (which was over as down 3-0 and no Lowry)

Why does every contending team want him then?

His last four teams have been:
Miami (ECF)
Milwaukee (Champions)
Houston (WCF and WCSF)
Toronto (ECSF)

Not only do contending teams want him but they start him and play him a lot of minutes.

Because they are stacked. Stacked teams can absorb how terrible this guy is on the other end. The Raptors couldn't then, and they definitely cant now.

Just another Michael Curry.

Can let another team throw reckless amounts of money at PJ Tucker.

he will have lots of suitors now that the current playoff meta has been established. if you're not a primary creator/scorer, you better be able to switch on D and hit those corner 3s and PJ is that guy.

Every contender gonna wave the MLE at him. I think he returns to Miami on a longer deal or goes to the Lakers/Sixers, who have starting lineup spots available for him. I dont think the other marquee teams do (Bucks Portis, Suns Crowder, GSW Green, C's Horford...etc). Dallas could be interesting too, but i think theyre fine with Kleiber in that role.

Giving a 37 year old a 3 year deal, what could go wrong?

Detroit is trying to rebuild and values Tuckers grit and veteran leadership, but $30 million for a 37 year old might not be the smartest play in the world. It shouldn't be crippling by any means with their cap situation though

Apparently the Sixers want in on the action per the Wire Tap

The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly interested in signing PJ Tucker this offseason, sources confirmed to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The team is looking to offer Tucker a three-year, $30 million deal.

The Sixers are reportedly pursuing a three-team trade involving Matisse Thybulle and the No. 23 pick in the upcoming draft to create space to sign Tucker.

In return, they are looking to add a first-round pick.

The Sixers have had difficulty in finding a trade partner for Tobias Harris due to the size of his contract. Harris is owed $76.9 million over the next two years.
