John Collins

Post#1 » by TGM » Thu Jun 23, 2022 12:52 am

Interesting how eager Hawks want to trade Collins. After-all he is a pretty solid PF/C.

Thinking Collins will cost us either GTJ or OG. Question is can Collins be more effective than both Precious and Siakim at the 5.

Would OG and Birch 33 for Collins and 16 make sense for both teams. Collins would address a better positional fit for us and he is actually a decent defender and 3PT shooter.

I don't think he improves us.

We already have too many PFs on our team and he is too weak defensively to play C. For those reasons, he's not an ideal fit.

He seems like the type of player Kings will trade for. Does not help us.

Hawks Should have just signed and traded him last year. Stupid.

And maybe put this bad trade suggestion in the OG thread with the rest of them.

He’s not a winning player.

Empty calories type of big man, unless you think he is like a 3rd / 4th option.

He seems like a Sacramento Kings type of player.

Murray is worth more. Hawks definitely sending a few picks the other way.

Landry Fields is delusional...how is John Collins any where close to Dejounte Murray in value?

Why would the spurs want to move Murray. The guy is a legit unicorn. Probably not getting the spot light because of playing on the SPurs.

I would happily send Fred and 2 firsts for Murray. If we are serious about playing true positionless basketball.

JC was always overrated. Never understood the fascination. But if they could somehow parlay him into DeJounte, that would be the coupe of the century.

Why would the Spurs want to trade Murray? I sense Fischer trying to "OG" the Spurs FO as well

It's pretty obvious at this point that teams use Fischer to get their interest in players out there.

I'm sure ATL would love Murray (he'd be a very nice fit next to Trae) and they called the Spurs about him. But like TOR with OG, the Spurs don't need to move Murray, so it would take a big package from ATL to get him. Almost every player in the NBA is available if you're willing to overpay.

Murray for Collins makes 0 sense for SAS but SAS doesn't think they can grow long term with Murray if the rumours are true that they want to trade him. just periphally looking at Westbrook, i mean Murrary...

21, 9, 8, 2 steals but low 30% on 3s, TS% of .533

gaudy counting stats but i think he pans out to be a #3 on a championship team type of player. if SAS can pillage a team for draft picks and another young player(s) for him, ya they do it.

He's been overrated by Atlanta specifically more than anyone. I would have like him here if it was a sign and trade and it didn't cost a lot of capital. But even then the max salary is not very appetizing, that it should have been far less going the other way than they expected or asked.

Kind of like Ayton for me. If you can max him in a sign and trade cheap (assets), then fine, otherwise, nope.

Isn't Collins complaining similarly to Turner where he wants a bigger role and more shots? He isn't going to get that here.

Doesn't defend well or doesn't defend the C spot well is the knock. I'm not sure about the 2nd part and think it is the same as always, and about big slow Cs.
