Who would you give for KD? Pascal/Scottie/Neither?

Who could we sacrifice, and still be left with the best team to contend this year and next?
(*edit: "Neither" means no trade at all, Raps fans know this already)

Scottie is off limits. Everyone else should be available. Durant may be a headcase he’s still going to be a top 3 to top 10 player for the rest of his contract, which is guaranteed through the 2026 post season. He opens up a real championship window.
If we can make a non-Scottie trade, it’s a no-brainer.

Pascal has proven to be the best #2 option in the league. The whole point should be to combine him and another superstar, not trade him for one. And Scottie is absolutely untouchable, especially for an of-injured, soon-to-be 34 yr old. Not even a consideration.

I urge anybody who picks Scottie Barnes to go follow another team. You shouldn't be here. We don't deserve you.

There is 0 point in trading for KD if you don't have another win now star in pascal beside him. You only have a short amount of time in kds prime left you dont have time to build a team around him organically. I also wouldn't trade scottie for him. I don't see how we're a good fit for KD with brooklyns asking price

The answer is neither, because either scenario is problematic:
- Scottie is too foundational for the future to trade for a 34 year old that does not make the team a top 3 favourite for a chip
- Pascal is the only legit #2 option behind Durant; trading him FOR Durant leaves the team behind the elite and also gives up the future
As others have mentioned, Kawhi was the perfect scenario: he was still in his prime, came with risk that made his value reasonable etc.
The Nets are going to absolutely extort a team.

Neither
34 y.o KD coming off an Achilles injury who has clearly lost a step and was just swept by BOS after averaging 5 TO/game is not that guy to lead this roster.
Kawhi was 27, more dominant than Peak KD, and was coming onto a stacked roster.
People need to stop thinking this is the Kawhi trade 2.0, especially if Scottie is dealt. Scottie for KD is highway robbery for them

Not just us, I don't see how any strong team could give Nets a couple stars and have enough left with KD to win. Nets will have to settle for young guys and picks , not get back a star like Pascal, Booker, etc.
GSW could do it with their young guys coming up but won't

GSW can't do it because Wiggins can' be traded to BKN due to his contract. Unless they do Klay+Wiseman+Kumiga, but I can't see BKN taking on a bad contract in Klay, an unknown in Wiseman, just for Kuminga
PHX if they can work something out are the only team I can see doing the trade and be even more dangerous afterwards, they actually remind me of the 2018 Raptors in that sense, of having the depth and being able to go all in on a superstar.

1 - neither - the packages media are throwing out there, star player and 3-4 1sts and swap that's too much
2 - pascal - if the trade value is more in line with where i think it is, pascal and 1 pick etc then its easier to swallow.
3 - scottie - isnt untouchable, but for durant he is. not a fan of the short window durant gives us, plus just to match salaries its going to decimate the depth you need to win.

Neither. KD doesnt even want to come to Toronto…now imagine forcing him to come here without Siakam and Barnes on the team, thats even worst and is a disaster wating to happen.

We could use him but we don't need him. Our players are developing nicely. Who knows how long Durant will be a force with his age and injury history.
If Masai can get him for GTJ and OG then maybe, otherwise we can wait for the next opportunity and in the NBA there will always be another opportunity.

Last night Bobby Marks showed a list of guys, bam being the best one, of guys who are on a rookie extension and so can't go to Nets because they already have Simmons on the same type contract. Would it be crazy to try to get Ben for cheap because the Nets would like to be free to add a different guy on one of those contracts?

honestly, i don't see a trade to be had, that gives a package Nets want, but still allow Raps to contend for a Championship

The Doug has weighed in, with characteristically the WRONG take.
I can't read the article, but it seems clear what he's saying.

Can't/shouldn't trade either.
Everyone else should be fair game.
Nets WILL get their haul, just depends from which team.

certainly risky, but Pascal+FVV+GTJ+Khem+picks for KD+Kyrie. Even salary-wise.
Nets try to be competitive now with FVV/GTJ/Simmons/Pascal/Claxton
Kyrie/Dalano/Flynn
OG/Svi/Harper Jr?
Scottie/Thad
KD/Boucher
Precious/Koloko
+MLE
my preferred trade would be try to go all in for vision 6'9" with something like FVV+(GTJ or OG)+picks for KD
Scottie/(GTJ or OG)/Pascal/KD/Precious

Toronto gets Kevin Durant
Brooklyn gets OG Anunoby, Fred VanVleet & Jakob Poeltl
San Antonio gets FRP(Toronto), SRP(Brooklyn)
Will not happen but that's what I'd be willing to do.

With his age, injury history, drama... probably not.
Everything but those two players.

Shocking how Doug is so willing to offer Scottie, he undervalues him
