Clippers are actually the real longboi line-up

Post#1 » by TGM » Tue Aug 16, 2022 7:34 am

We keep raving about this positionless basketball team the Raptors have, but not sure if any realized that the Clippers are also a long boi team, except way deeper and more talented.

Kawhi - 6'7 - WS - 7'3 (SG/SF/PF)
PG 6'9 - WS - 7'0 (SG/SF/PF)
Zubac 7' - WS - 7'4 (C)
Covington 6'7 - WS - 7'2 (SG/SF/PF)
Batum 6'8 - WS- 7'2 (SG/SF/PF)
Wall 6'2 - WS 6'11 (PG/SG)
Reggie Jackson 6'3 - 7'0 (PG/SG)
Norm Powell 6'4 - WS - 6'11 (SG/SF)
Moses Brown 7'1 - WS 7'4 (C)

This is how would the Raptors match-up against this team.

Kawhi > Scottie
George > Pascal
Zubac = Precious
Covington = OG
Batum = Young
Wall (healthy) > Fred
Jackson > Flynn
Powell = Trent
Brown = Koloko
Morris = Boucher
Mann = Porter

Add in the fact the Clippers have a 3PT specialist in Kennard, a versatile PF in Morris and another swing in Mann.

The Clippers are one of the deepest teams that people are not talking about. The defensive potential of this team is highly underrated. Wall, George, Leonard, Covington, Powell is a pretty crazy 5 man small ball offensive and defensive beast.

So if the Raps want to compete this is the level of depth and talent we need. The idea of trading for KD is not as crazy as people think if we want to compete.

These player comparisons are wild lol. OG is much better than Covington and FVV is much better than Wall while Achiuwa is arguably better than Zubac and Siakam is at least as good as George.

This isn't NBA 2K you can't turn "injuries" off for the Clippers

After missing another season because of injury Kawhi will probably be on some high level load management
this season. They play in another conference and won't get past Golden State so they're basically irrelevant to us.

Also it's obvious we need more talent to get to the next level but it takes 2 to tango when it comes to trades also
a lot of our younger players haven't fully developed as assets yet.

Be patient timing is everything in the meantime enjoy watching Scottie blossom.

To be fair Zubac averaged 10 and 8 last year and is only 25. He's a good young Center that can matchup with the big bigs.

Writing that wall is better than Fred is crazy. Wall has played 1 full season in 4 years and Fred is coming off an all star season.

Clippers are really good on paper but they have to stay healthy.

Fred slander taken to a new level. Wtf??? Do you really think people will be putting Wall in the All star game convo? Even in his last year played, he wasn’t on the same level as Fred last year.

I like Zubac but the Precious we saw in the second half of the season was significantly better. He just provides way more on the offense end and is a more versatile defender.

I think most people recognize the talent the Clippers have, but health is and has been a major issue for them.

This might be a different thread, but the term longboi gets misused to just mean length, when I think it actually is used in the Raptors' context to mean switchability. So, Zubac isn't a longboi and Kennard is one of the worst defensive players in the league.

As for this list, Moses Brown isn't an NBA rotation player at all. It's fair to compare him to Koloko at this stage, but his likely comp on the Raptors wouldn't even be Juancho Hernangomez.

But as an overall sentiment, I think the OP has a point that the Clippers have many long and switchable players. What's their payroll? What have they won?

The Clippers tend to go real small in the playoffs. Batum plays the center more often in the playoffs

What's with the Clipper's hype? The biggest move they made this offseason was bringing in a damaged John Wall. Wow...

LOL I've been lurking this board for around 20 years and this is one of the most outrageous posts I've ever seen! FVV is a champion, a *current* all-star, a top-3 3pt shooter last season, a leader, and an absolute bulldog, while Wall is one of the WORST jump shooters in the history of the league!

Plus, comparing the Clippers (crazy billionaire owner, incredible pressure to win now) to the Raptors (rebuilding while competing, innovative coach and patient, strategic head office) is just nonsensical.

Their top 2 players are far better than our top two, and that matters come playoffs.
Kawhi&George > Pascal&FVV.

But the thread is crap because obviously you need a kawhi level talent to compete, and trust me if Masai had that player he'd go all in for a championship as well. But whats funnier is that with all OPs slopping of the Clippers, they likely WON'T be NBA champions ever.
