Consider the trajectory of three careers

... consider their personality types and their rate of improvement
... consider their roles on the team
... consider their injuries and their relative constitution or frailty.

In the playoffs, in crunch time, who will start with the ball in his hands?

Can any of Fred, Pascal or Scottie supplant OG as the teams best defender?

At the end of the season who is the Raps best player?

Probably Spicy P, followed by Barnes, then Freddy Allstar.

Edit: wouldn’t be shocked if Scottie becomes the top guy by the end of the season but that’s expecting a lot.

The answer is Siakam.

But you mention if anybody can surpass OG as the best defender. I actually think Precious will do it. He’s the same size but a lot more mobile and coordinated when he moves. And if you just go by the 2nd half of last season its debatable who the better defender was out of those two.

Wow, some of you have lofty expectations for Barnes. Siakam will be the best player by the end of the season.

It will still be siakam. I expect Barnes to develop and eventually take over but that's asking a lot in year 2.
Plus Siakam is really good.

Siakam is multi time all-nba. For Barnes to be considered over him he'd have to get into 2nd team all-nba range. That's just not realistic, like at all.

Fred has no chance.

Scottie by end of his third season could realistically match Pascal, then go on to surpass in his 4th. Honestly though, this kid has proven many of us wrong in the past so I’m not counting him out

Yeah I was surprised the early poll results were as close as they are. I’m curious to hear what avenue Scottie has to be an all-nba player like siakam is this upcoming season.

Title says “considered” and there were several folks here who called Scottie the best player last year so poll not surprising. At end of year Pascal is still team’s best player. Scottie is now and moving forward team’s most important player. I can definitely see Precious be considered team’s best defender. His man to man defense is crazy good.

It's still Pascal for at least this year and may be next year. Depends on how fast Scottie grows as a player.

This. A lot of people are underrating FVV's two-way impact and expecting too much out of Scottie. FVV has averaged 19/4/7 since becoming a starter and has posted elite impact numbers the past two seasons (top 20-25 range by various metrics). Even if he takes a decent step back in USG%, it's a pretty safe bet to say FVV will still be a bit better than Scottie next season. That's not to say I would be surprised if Scottie is playing at an all-star level next season, but it's pretty unlikely in his 2nd year when he's playing on a team with 4-5 other really good two-way players. Year 3 is where I'm expecting/hoping Scottie to take over and make a case for being our best player though.

This season and likely next it’s Siakam, then Scottie then FVV.

Scottie at some point becomes the lead forward initiating the offence.
