No. 39: Scottie Barnes

Toronto Raptors | SF

2021 NBArank: NR

One game to watch: Oct. 21 at Brooklyn. The Raptors might have been able to land Kevin Durant had they been willing to put last season's Rookie of the Year in a trade package but elected not to, which tells you everything you need to know about what they think about his future. No other rookie played as big a role for a playoff team as Barnes did last season. Toronto doesn't have to wait long to showcase its next star against the Nets.

No. 38: Fred VanVleet

Toronto Raptors | PG

2021 NBArank: 56

One huge question for 2022-23: Are heavy minutes taking their toll? VanVleet's 37.9 MPG put him a hair behind teammate Pascal Siakam for most in the NBA in 2021-22, and he has averaged more than 35 MPG each of the past three seasons. Over the second half, VanVleet missed 10 games due to either knee soreness or injury management.

No. 30: Pascal Siakam

Toronto Raptors | PF

2021 NBArank: 38

Swing skill: 3-point shooting. After making just 30% of his 3s during a frustrating 2020-21 campaign, Siakam bounced back to 34% last season, making the All-NBA third team for the second time in three years. Siakam reduced his dependence on the 3, attempting just 3.2 per game -- his lowest mark since 2018-19.

Initial reaction, Scottie feels a little high at 39 for ESPN. Above Zion? Whoa! Also above, Lamelo, Garland, Maxy, Dray, Murray, Ayton is a little susprising tbh. Mobley at 36, Cade at 35 I guess is the justification.

Siakam and Fred feel about right, though interesting that ESPN also believes Scottie is set to overtake Fred this year.

Lavine and Holiday ahead of Pascal is hilarious. Crazy to see Scottie 39th as just a 2nd year player but once again the disrespect is strong as Mobley is 36th and Cade is 35th. Klay and Smart ranked ahead of Fred is frankly insulting to the sport of basketball.

Pascal not being top 25 is just ridiculous imo.
Cade at 35 when he was one of the most inefficient players in the league last season is so egregious.

These rankings are based on marketing/branding and not actual basketball.

Seems lowish for Pascal, but also too high for Scottie and Fred. They have Scottie much higher than Shai and Garland, and somehow even have Maxey higher than Garland. I would put Fred and Scottie closer to late 40s.

Also Marcus Smart and Andrew Wiggins are about 30 spots too high.

Comical list. They have Brown in the top 25 but Siakam at 30? Lmaooo

What’s worse is ranking unproven rookies like Keegan Murray ahead of proven young studs like Trent Jr.

Not surprise to see Pelton had Siakam at 30. He’s been a Siakam hater since day 1. He’s easily a top 20 player in the league.

Mobley, Scottie and Cade being top 40 is insulting to basketball.

Siakam is 10 spots too low.

Why stop there?

Raps can be the first team ever to win 48 games with no top 50 players. Sound good?

Do you see the next vote total above him? It's about twice as many more votes than pascal got..

Its great that he made 3rd all nba team but were talking about the guy who literally was the last guy on the list by more than half the amount of votes..

And when you factor things like if it were open position voting (lavine/beal) and injuries (zion) .. it's pretty clear he pascal isn't all nba.

The "30 is low for an all nba player" argument is a lazy one

He was last among 15 players though and let's not forget he missed the first month of the year. Lavine and Beal aren't as good as Pascal and Zion never plays. The fact you even mentioned those players tells me Pascal is a top 15 caliber player.

No it's not. It's a lazy argument to say he's a top 15 player because he's an ALL-NBA player. Thinking there are 15 better guards and centers is ridiculous.

And you're a troll. You've been banned multiple times.
