Scottie is starting to put it together.

It's crazy because there are still so many obstacles left, this is not remotely close to a complete player. His ceiling is genuinely top 5 level.

2016 was a legendary draft year for Masai. OK, the team decided that a player like Jak was more conducive to winning than Sabonis (which I agreed with at time). And ... the jury may still be out. Let's see in another couple of seasons. But to pick up Jak, Pascal and Fred with what we had going into the draft was insanely great. The only "downside" - if their agents get their way, their combined annual salaries in two seasons will be $100 mill. From one draft. :o

Personally, I think picking up Scottie and Precious in 2021 will go down as even better. Just need deadeye shooters to go with them.

Scottie has started finishing plays with force now. Much better than those bunnies that rolled off the rim. Even better is him being comfortable enough to let his exuberant personality show through. Becoming HIM.

In the 1st quarter when he didn't reset back to Fred standing on the logo from the far corner and motioned for Siakam to cut into the lane instead of standing still, proceeded to skip pass crosscut over Pascal cutting to an open Gary at the elbow 3,gary drives into the space Pascal just cleared through and Pascal is shielding the help for an easy layup

That was LeScott Jarmes stuff

I think it’s clear he was still hurt or playing scared after his injury. For a few months it looked like he could barely reach the rim and literally never wanted to jump.

He’s got hops/bounce again and doesn’t look afraid to go at people. He was clearly playing trying to avoid re aggravating his ankle

Yep, I don't get how people were so hard on the kid in November, he clearly looked injured. One play that still sticks out to me during that time was a play against the Mavs where he was guarding Luka near the 3pt line. Luka did one of his patented step-back 3s and Scottie just crumpled and could not even remotely recover on him, just sagged down to the floor. Looked very much like he was maybe not even at 50%.

If Fred was willing to sign a modest shorter-term deal and pass off primarily ball-handling duties to Scottie I wouldn't be opposed to retaining him and trading Siakam over him. Could rehabilitate Fred's value over the next 1-2 years while getting a quality back-up PG so he doesn't get ground down with minutes, and trade him for maximum value later.

It's just unfortunate that it's likely not something he'd ever consider. Dude clearly feels slighted for even taking a 2% dip in usage lol.

It's a bit unfortunate that we can't increase his usage increase to match what some of his softmore peers get. Barnes' combination of inside scoring ability and elite vision will probably allow him to fast track much better than his peers because he simply plays the right way.

Nah. Long term not giving him things easy is way better for his development
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.
