Return of the Yak: The Everything Jakob Poeltl Thread

Post#1 » by djsunyc » Fri Feb 24, 2023 4:56 am

a dedicated thread to jakob poeltl v2.0

4 games as a raptor

ortg/drtg/net
raptors season: 114.6 / 113.7 / +0.9
raptors last 4 games: 117.7 / 114.9 / +2.8
yak on: 118.9 / 103.0 / +15.9
yak off: 115.3 / 127.0 / -11.6

15.8 pts (82.9 fg%), 9 rebs, 1.8 asts, 1.5 stls, 2.5 blks

the 103 drtg when jak's on the court makes the raptors the best defense in the league.

It'd be crazy if we went on a Celtics like dominant defensive run to close out the year.

And once OG gets back up to speed, it's going to get even better. I can't say if this was the right move long-term and even tho it feels like it should have been done in the off season, we have the benefit of hindsight knowing how badly the team was going to fall off compared to last year. What I can say is that the team is a lot more fun to watch now and this style of play feels a lot more sustainable. We can still have our weird, long lineups but we can also go to a more standard style and I think that kind of versatility is only going to help

Brutal trade. I can't believe we gave up the 7th pick in the draft for 25 games of Mason Plumlee.

A fill in type of center who might be able to give us 20 passable minutes in a playoff game, they said.

2019 Gasol or JV for now but I'll say if (when) Yak re-signs and puts a solid 4-5 year run here he'll get that spot easy for me.
