Boucher / Thad / OPJ / Flynn is about 28mill next year. If we could get a 24mill dollar guard for that platter that might be worth entertaining.
Someone mentioned Scary terry, but he's making 21mill for 4more yrs, not sure we wanna tie up books that long.
Hayward is a 30mill expiring next yr....
Jordan clarkson is someone who i wanna pry away, but utah probably wants picks for him

we most likely buyout thad for $1 mil instead of keeping his $8 mil contract for next year - especially if we want to avoid tax.

Makes sense. Thad, Boucher, and Precious all now fill the same role in the rotation.

Add FVV and OG, they are 125/106 per 100 and +57
Poeltl is proven and sneaky good.

This.

Poeltl seems to be the connective piece that allows the rest of our talented starting 5 to work together more efficiently.

Many of us posters here clamoured Poeltl (or another proven center) for a while So did the front office but they had to wait for the price to go down. Spurs wanted 2 unprotected picks in the offseason...

Thaddy wrote:Poeltl was worth a first rounder and is definitely a championship piece. If we re-sign him his value will exceed two first round picks. I'm expecting us to get into the playoffs through the play in, where if we match up against Boston it will be a test to see how well Poeltl can play against a stretch big like Horford.

Imagine if Boston was able to get Poeltl...he'd be an extremely sneaky trade for them...they'd be on their way to a championship

I'm glad Raptors prevented that from happening.

Would love to see even more of Jak passing from the high post.

Happy to give up 1st round pick for Poeltl. We already have enough bench warmers at this point.

Trade is looking better and better. With the light protection next year at least it will put pressure on masai to really improve the club. Unfortunately this year we just have to take it on the chin of being 7/11 club

Our fanbase is happy with Masai running it back with the same team. There is no real pressure on Masai to do anything other than improve the bench next year. We wont be contending for a while.

The fanbase wouldn't be happy if all our UFAs walked. This is going to be a very difficult summer for Masai. Also fixing that bench is not going to be easy because while Gary has mostly not been helpful, he still provides critical spacing that they haven't been able to find cheaply.

The season will obviously end on a down note with getting wiped out in the play-in or first round. Then the next big decision is on whether to bring back Nurse, and then move from there to throwing money around.

Pessimistic take.

Playing heavy minutes with an aggressive style of defense with no real C is physically exhausting on the players.

The move for Poeltl should have been made before the season even began. I think Masai was slow to move because he was holding out for something bigger that never materialized.

The Raps drafted and currently have 3 of the top 5 players in win shares from 2016 draft.

2. Siakam
3. Poeltl
5. VanVleet

We need another draft year like this.

26-30 prior to yak trade:
114.3 ortg (11th) / 113.6 drtg (17th) / +0.7 net (13th)

11-8 since trade:
114.5 ortg (17th) / 112.5 drtg (10th) / +1.9 net (12th)

with yak on:
117.0 ortg / 107.6 drtg / +9.4 net
the 107.6 drtg would be #1 in the nba during that time.

Since Poeltl has entered the starting lineup, the Raps defensive rating is 6th.

Possible.

Or he was waiting for San Antonio’s asking price to come down. Rumour was they wanted Trent and/or 2 firsts. Ended up being lightly protected first and a second to move Birch dead weight.

2nd best DRating in the league since the ASB. He just controls games without drawing much attention.

12-7 record with Poeltl starting (52 win pace)
