Smith: yeah, like Grange, I got nuthin’ too

We are entering a time of potential great chaos in the NBA, with bold moves and big, franchise-altering trades dancing like sugar plums in the heads of many fans.
It is particularly true in Toronto, where thoughts of moving up from 13th in Thursday’s draft or some sea-changing trade — or a combination in one blowout move — are more prevalent this year than any time in the last decade.
It’s fun to think about, fascinating to imagine, but at this point it’s far more fantasy than reality.
History suggests the draft will come and go with little fanfare for the Raptors, despite the team’s unique circumstances with so many pieces in flux, a new coach on board and the feeling that some change is necessary.

Are we seriously running back another year of the championship team role players as our main guys

That's the crazy thing
Siakam was great as option 2/3 as a rim runner in 2019, not killing offensive flow with iso plays these days, same goes with FVV

It would be a mistake. The stinky vibes emenating off this team are putrid. You'd have to be blind not to see how bad it was. And no one seriously wants to watch another year of that.
Changing up the coach isn't gonna make these guys want to play together.
It's making me queasy just thinking about it.

one of the least entertaining teams in the league.

so yeah sure, let’s run it back.

We're gonna win 42-48 games, lose in the first round and run this back all over again with OG and Siakam being UFA at the end of the season.

Do the right thing Masai and be proactive instead of being reactive.

If Masai runs it back he’s a complete fraud

Basically our FO is leaking through multiple local media guys that the trade market for our players is soft (again), and Masai will not trade them - letting the trade market determine the direction of our franchise. These leaks are just FO setting fanbase expectations on significant roster changes - expect none.

Ive been pretty much guessing that we wont see much roster change this offseason despite how dusappointing it will be seeing practically the exact same roster back next year to flounder in the play-in or the first round of the playoffs again next season.
Hopefully I am wrong and I would gladly eat crow if the front office pivots towards a rebuild and certain guys are off this team but Im not holding my breath.

I don’t know how to take these reports tbh. On the one hand I’m devastated that we could potentially see year 4 of this Fred Siakam top 2 option experiment, but another side of me thinks Grange and Doug don’t have any real sources and are just spitballing. We’ll see how it goes on draft night.

We might have a Heat like run to the finals. There is a chance

That trades we did not make are the trades we must embrace.

Regardless of what happens, we can know for certain that come Thursday, something
will happen, even if that something is only us picking at #13.

free agents always have a higher percentages of staying with their team. These guys are just playing the odds

This is basically career suicide for Masai and Bobby, I doubt they double...no, triple down, on this terrible core come next season.
