The decision on OG + Pascal has already been made (source - my own)

Post#1 » by JD143726 » Sat Dec 23, 2023 2:37 am

Believe it or not, that's up to you, obviously.

I've been told (by someone I have known since I was a child who now works for the team) the decision on OG + Pascal has already been made. Unless Masai + Bobby get overwhelmed with a trade offer they are going to attempt to re-sign both on team friendly contracts. They project that OG and Pascal might actually get similar deals, with Pascal no longer being a max player.

It was explained to me that Masai hates dealing from a position of weakness and that the thinking is re-signing them to team friendly deals will put them in the most advantageous position in managing the assets.

The gamble is that someone comes over the top and seriously over pays for both, but I was further told, that both have told management that they want to re-sign here.

So they are either getting traded or signed back. Noted, breaking news it is.

They either get traded or go into free agency... odds are 50/50 so hard to refute your story here lol.

However, Siakam can be signed RIGHT NOW so not sure what the hold up there is. OG will go the route of Fred where Masai think he'll stay but some stupid team will max him out. Pistons will go the route of the Rockets trying to improve the same way.

If Siakam and/or OG walking for nothing gets Masai fired, it will be worth it

I hope you're right and Siakam and OG both walk just to see maximum chaos

If true, then it will just confirm Masai's back end tenure is just about "getting your bag" culture.

MLSE will step in at some point. If I see it, so do they.

And water is wet. This has been known by everyone who follows the team. Masai doesn't trade his players.

There is no such thing as overpaying from Masai's perspective. Indy could offer Haliburton and he'd still turn them down. He grossly overvalues his players.

Great so we have to put up with this roster for multiple seasons unless a contender bites on Pascal.

i think you're full of it because they are both getting maxes on the market. I also think we should ban any posts that claim people have sources because theirs been countless and they have all been wrong.

Masai will try to go for team friendly deals, and then watch them both walk. It's very on brand for him. This off-season is going to be FVV 2.0 x2.

Your source is just regurgitating what we’ve all heard and feared. But actions speak louder than words, and they’ve done nothing to change this perception so far. Status quo and not moving any core players is exactly what is happening.

One of them will be traded.

I honestly feel like a trade will happen before New Years.

The FO has to make a move right now. The team as currently constructed, will convey the 7th overall pick to the Spurs. That'd be a terrible look for the FO and make matters a whole lot worse than they already are.

Trading them does one of two things. A) We become worse and secure a top 6 pick in the draft or B) We become better and string some wins together

I've reached a point where I can't decide which is better for the franchise - trading OG & Siakam for the best offer possible OR having them walk and Masai fired.
