Best bet to get traded next

Post#1 » by goinrogue » Fri Jan 19, 2024 7:07 pm

Who do you think will get traded next since we’re obviously not done.

Bruce seems like an obvious choice but … he fits well with Scottie.

Dennis apparently joined Toronto to be a starter but he’s now coming off the bench. There’s also many contending teams that need a back-up guard right now (lakers, warriors if they make moves).

Yak was traded for when we had Fred and pascal. He may want not want to be part of a rebuild.

I don't get it either, we've seen more than enough center-less Raptors basketball and it's only been ugly....trading Poeltl doesn't make sense at all unless you're getting a starting center in return, like Claxton for example (but he will be a UFA so you have to be confident that he will re-sign).

I mean it was reported that he would rather not stick around for a rebuild. So yeah in that world

Masai traded a Top 10 pick for him and gave him $20 million a season

More than we got for Siakam

That's what Masai thinks of Jakob. It's like people didn't watch us play without a big man

You don’t think things have changed since we traded for him? Newsflash: Siakam, OG, and Fred are all gone since then

Yes, we do need a Center. Trading Jakob doesn’t mean we won’t necessarily have one. We could get one that fits us better back in the trade. Or via another trade

Might be difficult but would love to replace him with a pure shooter.

I think that with more shooting around Yak now, he actually fits better with the current structure of the team. And while he did say he didn't want to be apart of a rebuilding team, I imagine he was talking about one that is stripping down its team completely to tank for draft picks, like the Spurs did.

I think he is a key part of this team moving forward. And if there is a better fit at C that is available, I would like to know who that is?

I would say there is a next to zero percent chance we would trade three firsts + Bruce Brown for a top 6 protected pick.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Bruce Brown has the most value to other teams (as a playoff contributor or large expiring salary), and therefore probably the most logical to be moved next.

Don't know whether GTJ has much value around the league, other than an expiring contract. And Boucher isn't good enough to justify a team trading a good pick (FRP) for him and his remaining contract. So both might have more value on the Raps.

Dennis might bring a decent pick back.

GTJ's stats have risen over the course of the season so it's possible he could be worth a late 1st by the deadline, dunno.

I'm fluid on the idea of trading any of these guys, sans maybe Poeltl, who I think we should keep, for now. His value rises as the seasons go by as that contract is flat and the cap keep rising. If you get a good deal for any of these guys thrown your way, then probably consider it, otherwise, let them keep playing?

I'd say Gary and Dennis. Let's keep Bruce for the two year period as our young guys will need a vet like him to stabilize things and teach them things.

Dump Trent because he's an expiring contract and probably won't be back. We can hold everything else until draft night.

I am not so sure Masai is actively shopping Bruce. Masai likes that PJ Tucker/Thad Young kind of guy (strong vet who can guard multiple positions). Bruce isn't even that old (27). If someone offers him a young stud (player he was unable to get from the Pacers), then I think Masai will make the trade, but I wouldn't be too surprised if we keep Bruce for a bit.

I could see us shipping out Trent to the Knicks for Grimes and Fournier. He looks like he would do well there. He's all glamour and no product.
