Grange confirms Darko is confirming the tank

Post#1 » by Thaddy » Thu Jan 25, 2024 4:12 pm

Read on Twitter

"We're not gonna sacrifice anything on our team development or player development"

We are separating ourselves from Memphis and catching up to a Portland squad that is competing harder than ever.

Honestly think Alexandre Sarr could fit this team like a glove if we get lucky.

IMO, a healthy Charlotte - with LaMelo playing - are underrated. We've seen their depth in the early season loss. Losing Rozier might not hurt them (or help the Heat) as much as many people think.

I don’t think his answer would be much different if he was asked this question at the start of the season. They hired him as a developmental coach. He hired a developmental coaching staff. They were never going to intentionally try to lose specifically but there have been numerous decisions that have put winning 2nd on the pecking order in games this year. Often the result is posters deciding Darko isn’t a good coach. Maybe he isn’t. But I think development has been the focus all year.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

You should change the title. It should say that Grange confirms Darko is confirming the tank.

I think there's quite a few interesting international players in this draft. Worth having a top 6 pick.

It is easy to say we will focus on player development when you don't know how to win games in the NBA. Darko should be working on his own development as a head coach and that would be developing winning habits, creating a defensive identity, and building his own profile for future coaching opportunities otherwise he just ends up like Wes Unseld Jr. from the Wizards - quietly let go because his team failed in every aspect.

The team does pass the ball well-enough, but it often seems like there is just general confusion and players looking frustrated/disengaged on the court, including your star player.

Did Grange confirm people are getting their money back for seats? I doubt they want people walking away.

Charlotte is 7-14 with LaMelo. They could easily win 30+ games if they dont see more injuries.

Memphis is to well coached to really fall off a cliff unless they do it intentionally.

DET/WAS/SAS are not catchable. But if we can get to 4th we have a very, very good chance to keep the pick. We would need 3 teams to jump into the top 4 to lose the pick. 81.1% chance to keep the pick
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I mean at this point it's the right call. We are 16-28 and would need to finish 25-13 just to reach .500.

Get Gradey, Porter, Nowell, even Liberty-Freeman etc. some playing time.

Keep our top 6 pick.

Regroup and gear up for next year.

Yeah and if the worst case happens and we convey the 7th pick then whatever. You keep the pick this year you retool and go for the playoffs in 2024-25. You lose the pick you just tank next season.

But to really tank you gotta trade a guy like Jakob. We will suck hard if we play Porter all season.

Blazers are 4-6 in the last 10. We play against in March on back to back. It is possible Blazers could finish ahead of us, though they have been prolific post all star game tankers last few years.

They tanked by sitting Lillard. Unless they sit Grant, Simons, Brogdan

None of those teams had 99% capacity to walk away from.

Scottie Barnes being disengaged is on him. You shouldn’t have to convince great players to be engaged. Idk what Barnes actual issues are… I mean he has talent but to me it’s obvious he doesn’t have to goscorer talent… but he still does enough things well that he should make a bigger impact on winning than he does… he often makes these careless passes, gives up on contesting shots, idk if irs conditionining or just mentally giving up. But again I thought he would be more a Lowry type in his tenacity but he seems to have these moments where he doesn’t seem to give as much of a **** as you’d expect. Hopefully that all changes with more maturity and evolution to his overall game.

Yeah, my seasons seats went up 20% last year. 20%!

None of my friend group wants to go see the games, and I can't sell them online without taking a steep discount. I've been a SSHer for well over 10 years, but that might come to an end. I've witnessed bad times before (2010-2013). But at least the seats were much cheaper then.

The people talking about tanking, don't know how money works.

Getting better sure, actively destroying your product. Not so much.

Because people were lining up to watch the 12-20 Pascal/OG Raptors.

You can't magically make a team start winning games. The Raptors were losing games with their vets, so they traded them to get younger. It's better to lose with young players than old players since young players have room to improve.
