Someone tell me how to feel about Dame. I've got a bone to pick with Milwaukee and I just need some ammo.

For real though, it would have been cool to see Brunson start. That boy is niiiice.

If you look at BBQ as an under 25 core in the NBA they would probably rank very mid. We need high draft picks to get a prospect that's even better than Barnes. The core isn't as good as you would think it is when you compare it around the league.

I think these are the teams barring injuries:

Starters: Lillard, Haliburton, Tatum, Giannis, Emiiid

Bench: Brown, Maxey, Brunson, Mitchell, Bam, Banchero, Trae

Potential injury replacements: Randle, Butler, Derozan, Barnes.

I think if our team was closer to .500, Barnes would have a good shot as a bench player or 1st in line as an injury replacement but at this point guys like Randle, Derozan and Butler would probably get the nod over him.

I meant as in how low he is on the players list and I'm expecting him to be one latest by next year even though I feel like if we were winning he'd at least come off the bench this year. Just surprised at how low he is on the players list.

I wouldn't go that far. His numbers are really similar to Brunson on the offensive side and they're both not good defenders (though Brunson tries more than Dame does, that's for sure). I wouldn't call it all name recognition. Would say it was a case of two players with similar numbers and name recognition tipped it to Dame.

they only announced the starters so far, 7 more reserves to be announced, and they are picked by head coaches. plus lets say 1 injury replacement as it usually happens every year.

While I don't know their advanced defensive impact, Brunson is leading the league in charges taken with 23. Dame has 2. I think that's pretty cool and I'd love to see it become a more recognized stat. He's laying his body on the line, just like Lowry did. A ton of players would simply side-step.

Keep in mind that SGA averaged over 23PPG two season running and wasn't an All-Star either time, it took him until year 5 to make All-Star. Players on losing teams generally don't get to be All-Stars much unless they are vets and can get in on name recognition.

I feel like over the past few weeks Scottie lost my endorsement in the sense that prior I would have absolutely vouched for him to be named to the all-star team and now I really don't feel him not being named to it would be a travesty due to the considerably poorer gameplay so far in January. He's currently a borderline all-star who should be able to leave no doubt in people's minds regarding merit of all-star status in future seasons.

should be a fun game. they made the right decision going away from the draft, which felt stale last year.

and i mean, scottie has been without three top tier starter teammates in yak/og and now pascal for most of this month, is it a wonder that his own play dropped off too? not to say he's been at his best by any means, but most players would be somewhat affected by that too.

anyway, i hope scottie gets more of a look next year but it'll take a whole half-season of consistently high play because we probably won't have a high amount of wins then either.

Wasn't Trae Young also disproportionately disliked by his peers? At least in years past. It's definitely an interesting dynamic, but I'm not sure if players take the ballot as seriously as they could.
