But if this is happening, it still raises some questions. Olynyk does make some degree of sense in Toronto as a floor-spacer for Scottie Barnes, but could this end up being a multi-team deal where Olynyk then gets rerouted again to get Toronto even more draft capital? Is Danny Ainge just getting involved to try and screw with his old foes in Los Angeles and New York and make sure they have to fully pay up for Brown? Does Brown even make much sense in guard-heavy Utah?

All of these answers are currently unknowable, but at the very least conflicting reports are a much-needed crumb of drama in what has thus far been a boring deadline week, so we can thank Trader Danny for that regardless.

Why is this not on YouTube or one of the base Sportsnet channels? They're gating it (video) like it's premium content. I can watch the NBA Today Trade Deadline Special on TSN.

PJ already on a contending team...WTF?

PJ, just keep quiet and enjoy the ride. You might get a ring out of it!!

Hornets might as well keep him. They will never get full value for his skill because of his off court issues. Then in any trade he will lose his bird rights, so any team over the cap will not be able to pay him more than available exception or cap space. He is already playing for the Hornets, it might be the easiest for them to keep him long term.

There is no way you compared Birch to Olynyk...

Casual take.

He already has a ring, maybe thats why he does not care and just wants playing time? I agree he should just wait be ready to play when somebody gets injured. He has an option for next year which he will pick up 100%.

I have a feeling he doesn't want to contend with California taxes on his last big payday unless he is actually playing. I think he goes to Dallas.
