So while the JV stuff would be a nice story, I'm more interested in Ingram here. We knew the Pelicans wouldn't be able to afford all their pieces eventually and Trey Murphy's contract extension is about to come up this offseason.

Do you think it would make sense for the Raptors to go after him considering hes going into the last year of his deal? If so, what can we realistically give up for him assuming Pelicans wouldn't want to be adding much payroll and would probably be interested in future assets.

On paper, it's almost a perfect fit because Ingram in only 26 years of age and could become our number 1 scoring option/go to crunch time player. This can allow Barnes to focus on all the other aspects of the game, which he seems to thrive at.

Quickley + RJ + Ingram + Barnes + Poeltl is a damn good young starting lineup.

I wouldn’t do it. He’s not good enough to be a #1 like you say and he’s a UFA after one year. This is a type of move you would make after having a good year, for eg Orlando.

If we show out next season and the team is better, then I would consider a move like this next summer

We just saw him in the playoffs as #1 option for Pelicans and he failed miserably.

Ingram is a worse version of Siakam - same issues exist as there would have been before.

JV on a cheap bench deal - sure.

4 game sample.

He also averaged 27/6/6 on 58.4TS in 2022 a 6-game series against the 64-win Suns.

Ingram was clearly hurt heading into the post season this year. We've already seen him dominate before but injuries are definitely the risk with him. That's obviously something you take into consideration when determining what type of price you'd be willing to pay.

"Averaged".

Ingram is like 3 years younger than Siakam and also fits the team better positionally next to Barnes. We've also seen him perform much better as the number 1 option than Siakam has in 2022 like you've already said.

Any trade would have to come with an extension and the price can't be super high considering his injury history. Like I'd rather give Ingram around 40-45 million per season than Siakam.

They need to trade their overpaid part timer.

Ingram does not fit positionally better at all. He has very similar strengths and weaknesses and is another low volume 3 point shooter prone to huge fluctuations in %'s. Similar to Pascal, he shot very well from 3 in 2020 and 2021 but since then has been up and down with his volume decreasing significantly.

The 3 year gap is nice, but he also has not improved in 3 years either. Compared to Pascal he is minorly better shooting the ball, but I would give Pascal the advantage in pretty much every other aspect. Siakam is a better playmaker, defender, rebounder etc. but I do think Ingram would possibly thrive a bit more with a good playmaker like Scottie - his catch and shoot 3pt% has been north of 40% 3 times in the last 5 years, and his mid range %'s are insanely good which makes me think there is the possibility he could grow into an elite 3 point shooter. The scary part to me is that Ingram just is who he is at this point, he really has not changed in 5 years to now.

AND like you said before, injury concerns are real. Siakam level production with an OG level injury history.

I would also push back on him performing better as a #1 option than Siakam. Ingram had a great playoff series that year, but over the entire sample size of the last 5 years they are incredibly similar with almost identical peaks.

Yes? Want to elaborate?

Ingram only averaged around 55gp/season, he is not worth a long term contract.

Agreed but you're always hoping another teams stupid decision is to your benefit lol. Pelicans have wasted like 5 seasons in a row because Zion can't stay healthy.

Yeah, I thought he came straight off an injury into this recent series…. He’s better than he demonstrated here.

How about our top six pick (after today) plus whatever other unprotected FRP we can convey for Zion? Reunite the Dukies.

Pelicans won't trade Zion.

Anybody who's watched him the past couple of seasons knows he's not worth a big package. There's a reason the Pels identified him as expendable and not Trey (who led the team in mins in the playoffs btw) or Herb Jones (who played almost as much and had equal impact).

Trap move for a team, unless the price is cheap, which it won't be.

Fragile and inconsistent. They should just send him to Atlanta
