So after the lottery, let's take a pulse from the Raptors fanbase on where they stand with Masai currently. This is the overall grade based on how you feel about the job Masai has done to date and as things stand today.

Don't give a damn. Stop making short sighted moves.

Worst case scenario happened. Just really bad luck after years of good luck it seems. At this point you have to think the cloud has now passed over and we can finally move forward. That is unless they screw things up again. But by Masai’s presser, it does seem like he’s done with short sighted stuff for the time being. We have 3 young 22-24 year olds that look really good analytically. Gradey is looking promising now. Ochai we have to hope he’s in the lab with our guys because I’m not satisfied at all with what he’s shown but potential is there. We got a couple of picks. We have a start, so to speak.

To answer the question, I’m at C mid. Was below that beginning of the year.

I'm happy with all the trades he made last year, as well as the Dick draft selection.

Not gonna continue bashing him for a mistake he made, and owned up to already, two seasons ago (i.e., Poeltl trade).

Grade: A

Feel the same way I have for 2 years. I do value stability and continuity so do not outright want them fired, but I wouldn't care at all if he resigned today. People assuming the successor we hire will only be a disaster are acting like the ninnies that Masai told us not to be anymore. Plenty of competent folks around the NBA and MLSE also pays really well. There would be no shortage of bright folks interested.

He's starting to look like Joe Dumars.

he made a huge change in direction midway through the season. we went rebuild mode and we now have the following (as of today):

scottie
iq
rj
gradey
poeltl
ochai
kelly
2024 #19
2024 # 31
indy's 2026

we have a relatively clean cap sheet and all our frp's.

heading into the season, he was a "C-/D" for the prior 1.5 years. but since the change in direction, i would say a "B". koloko's situation sucks and hurts the roster.

Still believe in him even after the terrible Jakob and pascal trades.

Just stop giving away our picks and I'm good for the most part. We need those young cheap assets.

Regardless of the outcome of the lottery, that was always going to be an awful trade.

I’m at C+ or B- right now. Can be bumped up to a B or even B+ depending on how he handles the draft picks we have and what he does with Bruce

What does the lottery has to do with FO rating?
Shouldn't it be based on draft record, trades, asset management, etc.?

Masai has been complacent the past 2 seasons. He didn't properly manage the roster, specifically by failing to add complementary pieces to the bench, ie shooting.

The Dick pick is looking better & better, the OG trade was better then expected, however the Siakam deal was underwhelming.

When Masai is focused and proactive, I'm not sure there's a better GM in the league. I think he realizes that he hasn't been as sharp/hungry the past couple seasons as he was previously, and I believe we'll see the old Masai going forward.

There should be another poll at end of this offseason. If Poeltl is here to begin another rebuild season (2024/2025), then it's a F.

Poeltl doesn't help us get into the 1st round (we are not making it), and he doesn't help us get losses for draft position in a strong draft 20025. There is no purpose to him being here through a rebuilding year - outside of "culture building" whatever that means.

Poeltl also said himself that he doesn't want to be in a rebuilding situation again. If he's not gone by the end of the offseason, it's Masai upto his old "tricks" of not believing in the market's price but stubbornly waiting for "his price" to execute a trade of Poeltl.

He's a D or F right now. Let's reassess after July.

F. Team is on a direct path to 7/11 purgatory. Masai has to right the ship quickly and be aggressive in adding young assets

I'm just grading him based on the moves he's made over the past year.

OG trade - A+
Siakam trade - B
Ochai/Olynyk trade - A-
Dick Selection - A

So yeah, I'm content with the A grade I've assigned him.
