Lol with all due respect, He might not be wrong.

Something about Scottie playstyle...just doesn't scream star to me but the rather the perfect complimentary piece

Scottie is so unique that he can be the best player on a really good, and maybe even contending team, while averaging 20 a game, or 22. He doesn't have to become a 25-27 PPG scorer. He is obviously so much more talented than AG, who I love as a player very, very much, and not to mention, it was great for his development that they tried to turn him into something he is not when the Magic gave him the ball. His handles have improved so much during that time.

I mean he’s not technically wrong. Scottie has all of the traits of an elite connector on a contending team.

Can play on and off the ball, elite passing ability, borderline elite help side defender, can give you 20 on any given night, 6-10 rebounds a night and can run your offence for stretches if you need to rest your first option player. Currently developing a great catch and shoot shot from the 3 as well.

Obviously his ceiling is much higher than Aaron Gordon and I’d wager that he’s a much better player than him right now but he’s not out of pocket for saying that.

Right now, the realistic outcome for Scottie is most likely being an overqualified third option on a contender and being a great 2nd option on a team with a top 10 player.

I think we’ll know for sure on whether Scottie can be a real first option caliber player or not within the next 2 seasons.

Let's wait to see if Scottie can develop a go-to move or two this offseason and really give him a full season as the bonafide 1st option on the team. Then we'll know more of what his true offensive chops are.

Exactly. Too many people, including Aaron Bro Gordon, are being far too presumptuous and it would be better to wait and see with Scottie's development if his handle tightens up, develops go-to moves and really hones his jumper and thre point shot.

So was Magic Johnson the ultimate ultimate glue guy? He averaged 20pts, 11 assists and 7 rebounds for his career.

On a spectrum you would have Magic at one end, as the superstar that led his team to championships in a roll where he did/controlled everything, but never was the primary scoring option, by choice.

I would think Scottie leans more towards that end, as the clear distinction between Barnes and Gordon is Scottie will actually run the offense for the Raps, whereas in Denver it is Jokic running the offense.

Now I'm not saying Scottie is Magic. I'm just saying, because he will run the offense, he has more control over the end result of the game, than Gordon. The teams success will dictate how Scottie is ultimately viewed.

I never thought Scottie would be a go-to scorer; he is a very good at a lot of other things though. He just doesn't have the moves/speed to be a natural scorer. As of right now, RJ is a more natural scorer on this team.

Respect to AG but Scottie’s skillset in year 3 is wayyy greater than his ever was

It would be a disappointment for Scottie if he ends up being the next Aaron Gordon lol

Why you care what Aaron Gordon say? Don't you have eyes and independent thinking? Scottie B is by no means a finished product.

Scottie is already better than Gordon ever was.

You could make the case that he’s a better Draymond Green, which is an “All star level connector player”

To win around Scottie, you need a Jamal Murray like scoring guard, a 3&D wing defender, and a stretch C.
Maybe IQ is the scoring guard. We’re missing the other 2 main ingredients.

I truly wonder if RJ will continue developing & what exactly he will develop into. He's the potential dark horse of our roster construction. RJ prioritizing 3+D development while continuing to have his excellent penetration game in hand would open up a lot of things for us.

Scottie needs to make a major leap in his scoring ability to make it work.

Wouldn't expect someone who plays with Jokic to misunderstand the different ways to be a star

20-8-6 while leading his team in steals and blocks in his 3rd year...Aaron was just waking up and still processing his coffee

Kind of a silly take. Just cause he's excellent at role player stuff doesn't mean he should be a role player. I'd argue he's already qualified to be a 3rd banana on any championship level team and is well poised to develop into 1st/2nd by the time he reaches his prime in 5 years.

ROY, all-star in his third year. Meanwhile, Gordon's highest individual achievement was winning (or almost winning) the last great dunk contest.

I still consider PER to be a useful catch-all stat for measuring how productive a player is. 3rd year Scottie was leading 4th year Ant in PER all season, until he slipped just behind him in his last month before getting hurt. But at the time Stephen A was laughing at the idea of Scottie being a "face of the league" after the Darko rant, Scottie's PER was higher than Ant's.

I respect Gordon as a player, but c'mon ...

Scottie can't be the next Aaron Gordon because he has already surpassed him by a country mile.

So here is the difference:

Aaron Gordon is benefitting like crazy from playing next to the best offensive player in the league who makes everyone around him better.

At just 22 years old, Scottie is already a better shooter than Gordon, has much better handles, and has excellent vision.

Gordon is more of a Shawn Marion type player, he can help any team but he can't really create his own. Most of his buckets these playoffs are coming from backdoor cuts due to Jokic drawing so much attention and making smart reads.

Scottie just averaged 20ppg, 8rpg and 6apg on 48%fg and 34%3fg while being the main option and attracting double teams. Gordon has never even come close to that. Orlando was always a garbage team with him there. It's easy to talk when you play next to Jokic.
