Any Interest in Michael Porter Jr.?

This topic may be dead on arrival considering everything that happened with his brother, but would you take a chance on Porter Jr. if the price was right? The Nuggets may want to get off his contract that was not given to him by Calvin Booth. Bruce Brown Jr./Jaden McDaniels for Porter Jr. works money wise. The Raptors could include the 19th and maybe even the 31st pick as well in this years draft.

PG - Quickley

SG - Barrett

SF - Porter Jr.

PF - Barnes

C - Poeltl

Again, I am not sure if this is even realistic amd I know he has a massive contract, but that may be why the Raptors could get him at a low cost. Thoughts?

They are not trading MPJ for a downgrade. They're in their championship window. This makes no sense from the DEN perspective, esp not for Brown, who they were fine letting go, and some middling 1st round picks that will a) likely not contribute to a championship team and/or b) not bring much back in terms of trade value.

From the Raps perspective, this season has been MPJ's ONLY healthy season. After dealing with OG's injury woes for so many years, I don't think the Raps are that eager to jump into their next medical project. Nevermind the Jontay memes.

IF they wanted to get off his deal, they'd more likely try to work a S&T for a PG13, Siakam or OG to replace him, versus parting him out.

no; especially if it means including picks on the raptors side. its one thing its a bargain or something, but giving up something tangible of value then no.

His skill set would be great

His contract not so much

His family and injury history definitely not

Better off going for De’Andre Hunter imo

It's not just his contract but I consider him (or rather his body) to be a ticking time bomb. For a team that drafted him and developed him, maybe that's a gamble worth taking but not for any other teams. Not for that price tag. And yeah, don't want nothing to do with that family.

You make some very solid points. One thing I disagree with you on is his value. I think because of his salary and injury concerns that he would not be seen as a prize asset to land the players you mentioned or players of that ilk. My thinking for Denver would be to take one step back to take two steps forward. It is not like they wanted to lose Brown they just could not afford to pay him 23M a year. They could if they got off the Porter Jr. money though. Brown Jr. was a very good player for them. They would be off that 23M after next season and have an ability to reshape the roster around Jokic/Murray. As for the Raptors they would be taking a risky swing for sure but at a low cost.

In trade, his salary would be used as matching salary and DEN would include some other draft assets to accompany him in order to get a PG13. I think around the league MPJ is still viewed in a positive light, though obv a high risk player. In terms of salary going forward, with the new cap jumps about 10% a year, and MPJ still being young, I think DEN will be willing to keep him on so long as health and luxury tax payments will allow.

Also, I'm pretty sure they can't really do much in FA even if they let Brown expire...they're at -$70 mil in cap space for next season lol. So even if they get rid of MPJ's 36 mil, and both KCP and Jackson decline options, they're still $13 million shy of actual cap space.

Denver's core is more or less what it is until at least 2025-26, depending if AG picks up his option or not. Jokic would be 30 and they'd still have Braun on a cheap club option, but they'd have to re-sign Murray for that season too. I don't think DEN makes any major moves this offseason. They'll retool around the core 4 and then maybe do something in 25-26.

When Denver acquired Gordon, they siad they want more 6'8 two-way wings. Brown definitely not part of their vision, and we have no one they are interested in.

Furthermore, if we dont want to pay Siakam and Siakam cant make us a contender, having Porter would be worst.

Denver does not have the type of assets to attach to MPJ to land a star. You and I both know that.

Just draft Tyler Smith to get majority of his skillset at a fraction of the price.

The skill set would be great is all. Maybe the Raptors were tanking for the long French wing that can shoot. It is a wild suggestion to trade for MPJ, but he would fit the team is all. I think the Nuggests would welcome Bruce Brown Jr. back with open arms as well.

Absolutely not, and we also have nothing to offer that Denver would want.

I am not sure about the money or if a sign and trade can even be made with other player. Are the Nuggets better or worse off with say Trent Jr./Brown Jr. instead of MPJ next year? They might lose Caldwell Pope. MPJ is at a low in terms of value.
