Our Lineup

by Snappycoocoo
Outgoing Raptors: Garret Temple - unless he comes back for mentor leadership
Jordon Nwora- Gadey Dick will likely take his minutes
Malik Williams- was a void when Olynk and Boucher injured and Raptors have been scouting Zach Edey
Bruce Brown- likely to be traded
Gary Trent- available for sign and trade or opens up salary to sign a player
Jalen McDaniels- 1 year left in his contract, could be traded to as matching salary
Our Roster:
PG - Quickly/Freeman-Liberty
SG - Barret/Dick
SF - Barnes/Agbaji
PF- Olynyk/Boucher/Gueye
C -Poetl/?
Incoming PossibitiesRaptors can have up 27 million available if they don't retain Bruce Brown or Gary Trent. If we do pick up Brown's team option, we use the Full Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception
In recent days reports have suggested
Kyle Kuzma to the Raptors
A possibility of
Buddy Hield signing with the Raptors if Philadelphia doesn't pay him
Isaiah Joe is a long shot right now, a sharpshooter will likely be picked up by Oklahoma
Some other players Raptors might have interest in are
Mikal Bridges,
Michael Porter Jr,
Cam Johnson
Who do u want to see the Raptors acquire?

Patrick Williams or Andrew Wiggins to help with wing defense.
Zach Edey or JV for backup center.

An easy trade would be Poetl, Agbaji #31
For
Wiggins, Moody future first
I thnk Raps love Jak though.
Pretty sure Edey is gone at 19.
Just take Holmes at 19.
IQ, Barrett, Wiggins, Scottie, KO
Moody,
Gradey, Holmes, Brown-flip, Boucher, McD's, JFL, Nwora, Gueye, PJ Hall

Sweet christ that is a depressing lineup. The fall off from starter to back up at every position besides SG is a cliff face.
None of the players listed would be worth picking up. This team is not ready for win now players. We don't even have a legit starting 5. Zero effort should be made to improve the team right now, and should be entirely focused on acquiring players/picks that can improve the team in the next couple years.

Sure its depressing when the lineup is not including 2 rotation players or their replacements (GTJ/Brown), nor does it have #19 or #31. Nor does it account for if we add anyone in FA.

That’s a good lineup if they are tanking.
I really hope Masai can find a 3 and D wing and center to compliment this group. Kelly and Jakob are just placeholders.

His 3+D solution was Ochai, so my hopes aren't exactly high on that. We don't have much in the way of valuable assets at this point, so I'm not even sure how he would substantially improve the team without throwing away more picks.
BB's value is not high, GTJ is a UFA, and anything else of value would basically gut the already anemic roster. The FA class is looking pretty underwhelming, and well, we also suck pretty bad at signing FAs, so that's out.
It's the main reason why we need to punt another season or two. We can't even field an NBA quality starting 5, and we lack any real valuable trade pieces to do anything about it. This team desperately needs a reset.

Sign Pat Williams, Draft Edey, and roll with:
Quickley/JFL
Barrett/Dick
Williams/Ochai
Barnes/(Rookie)
Poeltl/Edey

Man I was trying to be positive. The rebuild is early and who knows if this core will even be here when the team gets good.
They just have to have a good draft and get at least one rotation player out of it. They just need little wins right now.

A back-up big and a point-of-attack defender who can free up some of those minutes from Scottie having to do it and I'm fairly content with the offseason. Retain Brown and trade him for draft capital, potentially Poeltl near/at the deadline, too (if his value is high and we get quality offers).
I don't see a reason to go big this offseason currently. Gotta see more of what BBQ can do.

The Patrick Williams hype on this forum is baffling. The guy is mostly a bad player and also injury prone.

Have you seen the drop off from starters to bench for the Celtics lineup?
Worry more about the top 6-7, not the bottom 8-9.
Depth in the NBA is an illusion.
For the Raps, if their young players are healthy, they are probably not going with a rotation of more than 8 to 9 guys, with the top 6 guys probably getting the bulk of the minutes.
What I am hoping for with the roster, is a deal for Wiggins to fill the starting SF role, and signing Lowry as the back-up PG.
Then the top 9 are:
Starters: Poeltl, Barnes, Wiggins, RJ & IQ (probably average 34 mins a game each, except for Yak who is probably closer 28-30mins per game)
Bench: Olynyk, Dick, OA & Lowry (KO would average the most minutes, as the back-up 4 & 5, but Dick, OA and Lowry are probably only averaging 14-18mins per game).

I like him because he's still only 22, has shot 40% from 3 and doesn't need the ball in his hands. We do need a bigger athletic wing to defend tough matchups to take the heat off of Barnes.
But given his injury history and the price tag it would take to pry him (RFA) from Chicago, it's probably not worth it.

Echoing other guys in this thead, I'd like to pickup Patrick Williams from the Bulls
He'd push RJ down to his position at the 2, should provide enough shooting, moves well laterally and nice hands (good defensive potential)

He’s 22 but hasn’t improved since being in the league. Bulls fans call him low bball IQ and soft which is the type of players we shouldn't be targeting.

He's the same age as players in this draft. Has played behind all stars, and has shown flashes.
He's a breakout candidate. You are not paying him for past performance, but his projection.
The bulls and their fans are in the business of suppressing his value in anyway possible, as he's an RFA.

When you’ve played 4 years and haven’t improved since your rookie season it’s not looking good.
And as for Bulls fans, about half of them are fine if he leaves.

Be optimistic, not saying you shouldn't be, I'm just being realistic with what we have in front of us and how long it will take to get the team to a point where we can even be considered good lol.

Have you seen the drop off of their starting 5 compared to ours? You can manage having a steep drop off if your SL is the best regular season team in the NBA. But not when you aren't even a .500 team.

If we trade for Kyle Kuzma we need to fire everyone. Fire me too and I don’t even work for the team. Ship this team to Vegas if we trade for Kuzma this off-season.
