Whoa what are the Pistons doing... They had just signed him to the highest per for any coach last season... That's a big contract to eat for the next 4 years.

Crazy thing is, he didn't want to be there in the first place he turned down Detroit a few times and then the Pistons just offered so much money he couldn't say no.... and then it literally increased the $$$ all other coaches started getting... just for a one year 14 win season for $80 million.

He was going to take a break from coaching before getting hired by the Pistons.
Now he can take a break from coaching with an extra $78 million in his bank account for one year's work.

He kind of gave up last year you could tell he didn't want to be there. Just kept saying the same thing over and over again in press conferences about "this loss is on me I've got to do better" heard it like 60 times last year.

For sure, which I get... However I would have thought that they'd give him at least the first half of this season to right the ship before eating that much salary.

What a fleecing. Well done by Monty. Now he needs to ask himself if he should sit at home for 5 years and collect $65M (and end his coaching career) or get back into the fold.
