There is absolutely no reason Bruno can't be our backup C next to Kelly this year.

Absolutely bring him home, if only for the narrative. The hero we deserve.

Shout out to Bruno fr. He completely changed his game and I think could be useful on an nba floor as a stretch 5.

He was the main reason Brazil beat Canada in the World Cup. Absolutely killed us on both ends.

I remember seeing him in FIBA this year and he really bulked up. I do wonder if he could be a backup 4/5 nowadays

This is actually a really good read. I honestly think even though he finally has a ring, not landing Giannis in the 2013 draft will forever haunt Masai. It just doesn't seem like he'll ever get over it deep down, even though it doesn't affect his decision making anymore like it did in 2014. I would guess he firmly believes he would have more than 1 ring by now if he was able to do anything differently, whatever it would have taken for him to secure Giannis in that draft.
I would also guess that if he were given a do over on the Bruno pick, he would still have taken a chance on him but made sure to have the 905 established in time for his arrival, instead of too late.

The two biggest positives I can think of from drafting Bruno:
• It was one of the most unpredictable picks ever for us (Hoffa was another one). It's made every draft since then less predictable, as Masai might just draft another Bruno that we've never heard of that only has low-res cell-phone footage available.
• We did such a terrible job of developing Bruno that season (no dedicated G-League team, poor development staff etc,) that I can only assume that it helped motivate our organization to invest in a top notch development system, thus paving the way for better development for guys like Pascal, Fred etc.
Clearly, Masai believes that the "Bruno" types have more value in the draft, and goes for those bigger swings often where there's more risk/reward. We saw it work much better for us with Pascal, OG, and Scottie.

He had a good run in FIBA recently....I think the NBA lights are just too bright for him. Mentally he won't thrive in the NBA.

I still loved the experiment and think it was innovative by Masai. The league was definitely watching.
"Can we build an NBA basketball player?"
He had insane measurements, a workable jump-shot, and age all on his side. It didn't work and at the time I wanted Capela, but I respected the audacity to try to be different.

I suspect the bridge between burno and masai has burnt down for whatever reason. There were many times that Masai could have brought burno back post the championship, but he still elected NOT to

All the tools, no toolbox players are drafted all the time in sports. There really isn't much of a story. Given his performance recently, he hasn't received NBA interest apparently. That's the real story. Maybe he doesn't want to return to NBA meat grinder.
