Givony downplayed the story on ESPN dismissing the story as just a "guy with an older gf". pretty bad stuff.

As a former Calgarian who had Mormon friends growing up, I take issue with that. Mormonism is weird, and a bit cult-y to to us agnostics/atheists. But then, all the athletes who thank God for winning the game or getting drafted high or whatever seem strange to us, too.

Mormonism is also a warm, welcoming community. Just let Kyle live his life.

But this also makes me wonder if Raptors were told by his agent NOT to draft Filipowski at 31. And perhaps every other team in the first round.

How old is his girlfriend?

How do you groom an adult?

This is some Doug Christie level stuff. I approve. lol
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Kyle's now 20. He's a sophomore. Oddly enough, I met one of my best friends - an older Mormon- at that age. He was also a musician and we jammed together for years. He talked about Mormonism, of course, and even invited me to a service. Being a curious type, I went. But I didn't join the damn church. 20-year-olds have agency!

Depends on the community. There are credible stories of polygamist families that kick out their young male members, so there's less competition for the older men in the gene pool taking multiple younger wives. Search up "Lost boys".

This sounds like that in reverse basically, recruiting a 7 foot tall boy while he's still in HS. Warm and welcoming is one way to put it.

What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I started university at age 16. I was exposed to a lot of stuff at an early age. Miss me with your "grooming" BS.

The whole concept of individual responsibility seems to have been forgotten by the tut-tutting masses.

She was in her twenties and was grooming Filipowski when he was a teenager in high school and he has no more contact with his family. Reeks of a predator/pedophile situation.

Dude just wanted to put it out there that he started university at age 16 and let logic escape him in the process.

Wait are these rumors are is there evidence that the claims are true.

Because Givony came out and said they were baseless claims.

Show me where the family has confirmed this.

I understand your point....but she was his babysitter and he's sitting on a pile of future money. Plus...whenever an age gap like exists at such a young age...
Family estrangement is an additional red flag on top of the other contextual details.

So there's 4 red flags. The age gap. The fact that he was a future millionaire when she started effing him. The fact she was his babysitter. And now the family estrangement.

All 4 things together should arise some skepticism despite your valid point that people have generally become unbearable in their constant moralizing nowadays. It's possible that his family are nuts too. But again....there's enough going on here that indicates something could be off.

LDS are persistent buggers. I have had 'interactions' with them in the past but I'm with Will and would see myself out of this thread. BTW, this whole grooming him bit is 100% believable. Polygamy and slavery for the win and I'm out....
