Worth noting Jak has 500k and RJ has ~3M in unlikely incentives, which would come into play if they start worrying about the tax line or aprons at some point.

We could also set aside some of our cap room (if we have it) or MLE (again if we have it) to give them three year deals with the actual minimum salaries in place. But both seem unlikely, the 2nd round exceptions are probably the way to go.

If they opt out of BB, waive JFL, let Gary et al walk, they have 118M committed to 11 players, including IQ's cap hold of 12.5M. Add one minimum salary slot of 1.2M to get to the minimum of 12 slots spoken for and you are at 119.3M in a 141M cap, leaving 21.7M in cap room.

Once the cap room is used up they sign IQ to his 30+M salary, and sign the 2nd round rookies (/have their deals start to count against the cap at the end of July) and the cap room is gone, but they can do stuff before signing IQ.

Well things are changing quickly. Just added BB contract. Still refuse to add him to the depth chart.

We could probably find a way to get under the tax and sign him with Bird Rights depending on his starting salary.

I think it’s more likely we try to take on a longer term deal with Brown’s expiring - and try to pick up an extra asset or two - as opposed to signing GTJ, but you can’t really do both without getting pretty creative.

Looking at this, I think it’s pretty likely Brown gets dealt. We can reasonably take on some salary for the next few years (Hunter or Wiggins), pickup some sort of asset, and get another depth piece.

I do see a scenario where Brown is back and the starting SG though.
